Weird rear end or suspension sound

Anyone ever hear this before and know what it is? It's going into Chevy on Thursday, but I'm curious if you guys had this happen..

I'm having the same issue on my 2022 SS 1LE also. Drives me crazy. It kinda sounds like Styrofoam rubbing together?

I thought the same thing and tried to tighten the plastic screws that hold the Styrofoam that holds the "tire repair kit", but they don't tighten down any further. I think it's the suspension. I notice it on turns more and even in track mode the front of the car lifts a lot when I give it a lot of gas. Also it takes about 15-20 minutes of sprinted driving for the noise to be heard. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow. I'll def. post what it is.

Any modifications/aftermarket parts to the suspension?

No work to the suspension. I do have a cat back speed engineering 3 inch exhaust and CAI, that's it.

Chevy could not find anything other then the exhaust sitting/rubbing on the heat shield on the passenger side by the trans. But this wouldn't account for the noise coming from the rear end. I can not hear it with the windows down. I hear it when it is quiet in the car and at the rear of the vehicle.

Also, is it common place for your dash cam to be disconnected while getting road diagnosed? I get in the car and the plug is unplugged from the cigarette lighter port.

I guess I just have to drive it and wait for something to go "pop" and then get it towed and fixed.

May not be the cause, but I'd have to say that must be one wide open exhaust if it hasn't held back enuff heat to melt off that plastic zip tie! I'd modify or remove the heat shield . It doesn't look like you need one.

Thanks. Yea that ziptie is strong like bull.. lol I'm at the stage of-send it until it breaks. Which means I'm thinking of adding flex fuel, the msd LT1 intake and possibly LT headers.

Maybe as the exhaust heats up and expands it starts to hit the heat shield

I did think of that. I also thought maybe the sound is being transferred to the rear of the exhaust and that's why I hear it there. I just don't know.

So Instead of worrying about it day after day, I think I should put more mods. on..

Yep, already got my MSD (works great with a 95mm TB a Soler 95-103 adaptor-no porting). Skipping the long tubes myself but did get a Borla X-pipe with 2nd cat delete. I just had a long conversation with the manager of a local independent gas station about putting in a E85 pump. He'd have a monopoly for the surrounding 200 miles and I know he'd have guys waiting in line for it! So yes, +1 for more mods but that squeaking sound would make me crazy. Good luck and keep us posted. (but go ahead and modify that heat shield at least!)

One last thought, I've heard of some folks with a vibration/rubbing issue in the exhaust that close to the engine, can have a knock sensor misinterpret it as an engine knock (like from low octane gas) which will cause the motor to pull timing and lose power. Just saying...

Yes, at the very least always put 92 and carry a bottle of booster if you can’t

Well, you answered my question/debate on whether I wanted to port the LT2 IM for the 95 or not. So I'm going to be looking into the a good dela on the 95mm and the adapter. Thx. Also, I have a TON of gas stations that carry 93 octane so that is all I put in. I'm really considering doing the flex fuel option. What do you think about it? And again-I do have a TON of gas station near me that have E85.

Thanks and yes, I only put 93 in my car. Usually from BJ's/Shell?sheetz gas stations.

Also, you guys think I can put a piece of rubber between the exhaust the heat shield? Or something else? I don't want it to melt. But I'm curious if I can take that out of the equation as a source of the noise. I'd hate to cut the heat shield away. So the only other option is to move the exhaust, except I just had ALL the clamp points welded at the end of August.
