Tires

After these goodyears go bald I'm thinking about running either a drag radial or the Toyo R888R in the rear. 315 toyos or 305/315 in the drag radial. Sizes seem to be hard to find in oem tire size for drag radials. Not sure exactly what drag radial I would go with either. Up front I'm thinking michelin pilot 4s. Toyo doesn't make a tire in oem tire size, only a 35 aspect ratio not a 30. Not sure how much that extra half inch of sidewall up front will affect handling... thoughts on this set up? Street use only. Not a daily driver. No rain exposure. If I decide to take it to a track I would buy another set of rims and get slicks or whatever.

If someone has a better choice of tires please share your opinion/experience. I was looking into the michelin pilot sport cup 2 but they're pricey and seem to have same problem as one goodyears with warming them up. Those tires I feel like ate made for autocross only. Constant heat.

I just ordered the r888r for all 4 corners and am getting them put on tomorrow or Monday. I'm pretty pumped one track day and the f1's are toast

Please post pics. Please post your experience with them. 285/35 315/30?

My main concern is the 35 aspect ratio up front.

Right. There's almost no room to go taller front or rear. There's quite a bit of room to go wider as long we stay close to the factory tire diameters

Different aspect ratios between front and back is not as important as making sure tires have the same outside diameter.

Actually, autocross may benefit from a more street-oriented tire. 30-45 seconds at a time at relatively low speeds is not enough to get heat into the tires. So a tire that doesn't need as much heat would be best.

The Goodyear F1 Supercar G:3, Goodyear F1 Supercar R3 (new ZL1 1LE), Michelin Cup 2, Pirelli Trofeo R, etc are all made for road courses, where there are 20+ minute sessions, high speeds, hard corners, and many many lateral Gs.

Unfortunately, I can't actually contribute to this thread, because I don't know the first thing about drag tires.

I really would love to see pics of the R888R on stock wheels as I'm thinking R888s/R888Rs when I get a '17 ZL1.

And the best drag radial for all around use I believe is the NT05R, but in 315/35/20, it rubs on the fender, member @ZL W0N had to use a .25" wheel spacer to get it outside the well enough not to rub...Now this is kind of a predicament because the 315/35/20 is a very standard size, most of the other drag radials come in this size (Hellcats, Mustangs, Camaro, GTRs, etc and much more all run these sizes), and the fact it won't fit is kind of not good.

Yea I'm leaning more towards the r888r in the rears in 315. R888r up front or the michelin pilot sport 4s

I'd vote to match and do the R888R all around just for the look. Also I believe the 4S is a run flat whereas the R888R isn't? Not sure if that can cause any problems or not.

Never heard of 4s being a run flat. I would actually end up going with pss instead of 4s. Run wider. I'm concerned about the 35 aspect ratio up front with toyos.
