Thanks again, so many people on this forum are awesome. Really glad I joined Camaro5.
I am happy to do it, don't worry about PayPal, just do something when you can for another member.

Just as a FYI, you cannot just purchase the plastic bezel that snaps over the shifter. The entire shifter must be purchased which runs around $180. I did the same thing installing the ambient light kit for the bottom of the power port is metal and if you are not careful it will scratch the top of the shifter bezel when reassembling. I had to purchase a whole new shifter but the next time I simply put tape over the bottom metal piece of the plug so it would not get scratched.

However in your case OP, the dealer should fix this free of charge since they damaged it on their time during the install. Don't let them tell you it's not their fault for this is exactly what they did and the only way it can be scratched like that.

Well I went to the dealer after work today and without hesitation they offered to order me a new shifter assembly. I was pleasantly surprised at my interaction with the service guy.

I guess I may have overreacted when I first noticed the scratches, and I was glad to see they were taking responsibility today.

They said the part will be in by the end of the week and will call when it is.

Thank you everyone for your advice and offers to help.

I am glad they are doing the right thing. Nobody wants to see their car damaged by careless workers. The sales department wouldn't do anything because you didn't buy your car there, so they could care less.

Tell the Service Manager you will be opening a case with Chevy (and call Chevy to open a case). I had to do this when they refused to fix some things wrong with my car and they fixed it real quick once I called Chevy.

Glad to hear that they are taking care of it. I don't think that you were over reacting however. I would have been upset too. I cannot believe that the tech that did that did not notice the scratches.
