Back to 60,000 mi warranty ?

I hear GM is taking away there 100,000 mile warranty for 2016 cars and trucks, seems like a mistake to me, but they know more about these things than I do. Hopefully they at least leave it on the Duramax. Big selling point over the Ford.

Not a problem for me and doubt it ever will be. I've taken my Subaru on multiple long trips and haven't hit 12k miles a year.

I personally wouldn't make a decision based on a warrant difference like this. Now, I think a 10 year 100k mile warrant like Hyundai offers has more pull.

Though, this isn't a big deal to some it is to me, I drive my cars, my 1le averages just about or more than 25k a year that being said its already got 50k and just about 2 years of ownership I like knowing that I have that piece of mind. My 2 cents.

It really isn't for me either. My stuff runs out of time before the mileage does, but just thought it might be of interest to people how drive there cars a lot and on the fence as to buying a 15 or waiting for the 16. The only thing I put a lot of miles on is my two 2014 Malibu DDs and I lease them. Thought it would be important to people with work trucks and things like that.

They ran with it for roughly 10 years. Would think they would have a large enough scope to see if it worked for them or not. It may be worth it now for some to purchase an out going 2015 Camaro vs a 2016?

On a side note. Know some people that really can tear up an anvil with a feather. Cannot imagine sweating the liability of that warranty as a business owner.

It makes no difference to me. Clearly the longer warranty wasn't worth the extra cost. It's not like they are lowering their warranty below the competition. This move brings them in line with the competition.

Kinda makes ya wonder what they know that we don't know unless they cut a deal with the extended warranty folks which is a possibilty. I have 23,600 miles on my 2011 Silverado so the 5 years will come waaaaaaaay before the 100,000 miles.

The question is....Will the new reduced warranty period reduce the price of the car??

Doubt it very much. Look at it like they were giving away a longer warranty. Not enough people were buying the car because of that extra cost.

Does it impact the financials in determining the price of the car? Very much so. Will we ever have GM come out and say, this saved us $500 per car? Nope.

Go look at what they did with Cadillac. They already did this same thing several years ago dropping the powertrain warranty from 100,000 to 70,000 miles. They added some free maintenance, but there was no real pricing differential that I noticed.
