Third party apps with Android Auto

Is there any work around to make an app work in Android Auto?

I have this cool one on my phone and it would be nice to use on the larger screen to display real time gauges:

Torque Pro

I sent an email to the developer already.

Not that I know of. AA and CarPlay are both purposely built to allow only apps they deem to be safe. But I would love to see Torque get approved.

Guess I'll just use my phone for now, but in the truck I am going to mount a tablet for displaying the gauges.

Android Auto only allows for two methods of app integration through the AA SDK extension. First is by mapping as a choice for one of the 5 lower buttons (navigation, phone, home, media & vehicle). The second is via compatible notifications. To be a mapping choice for one of the 5 main softkeys, Google has to approve it. So far they have only approved Waze as an alternate navigation app and a hand full of media players. No vehicle diagnostic apps have been approved for the vehicle data menu, which is why the only choice is "return to <factory radio>".

I still want a dedicated Gasbuddy AA app.

I too would prefer more on Android Auto. However I got an Arkon winshield phone mount. Its not as good as on the larger screen, but since the windshield in these cars is so "right there", its the next best thing. I have it set up where it fits right above my Camaro screen.

You’re saying this app appears within Android Auto and can be viewed on the Mylink screen?

Only on < 3 version of Android Auto.

I got TinyCam Pro to run on AA. But after the v3 AA does not allow anymore 3rd part applications.

Just google search and you'll find the method and application needed.

TinyCam is amazing to have traffic cameras.
