Stock airbox not aligned /sealed with intake housing

Hello,

Has anyone else had an issue where the stock air box on a 2017 camaro v6 does not sit tight up against the air inlet baffle that sits behind the headlight? There is a gap between these two pieces and it appears to be no mechanism to connect them. It appears the design is they are simply supposed to press against each other. My car is new-just got it in September and driven minimally before the winter arrived do nothing to do with an accident our rough driving. Thank you. Hal

I would pop the box off and see why it's not lining up. Should be easy

Thank you squish... however

Hi Squish, thank you. The box lines up to its anchor points. It’s the other plastic bellow part that seems to be out of place however it has no room to move. Is your snug together or is there a piece that is supposed to connect the two parts? Curious to know how other V6 camaro stock air boxes are situated.

Since I bought the car (used) it had a aftermarket cold air system on it already. I also have the SS, I haven't done much research to see if the 6 and 8 have different air box bottoms. My car does have that boot though and it's a 16.

I was thinking it's easy to pop the ait box out completely and just see if you can wiggle that boot a little to get it to fit any better. To be honest though it won't make too much of a difference if it's perfectly lined up or not. Most of the air is being directed into the airbox even if there's a little gap.

Thank you again

It does line up about 99% so I’ll just leave it be and wait for the warranty to expire then replace with a conical cai. I was worried about hot engine bay air rubbing power but if minimal I’m good. Thank you again and all the best in 2019!!!
