This is why I don't DD my Camaro..

I was stopped at a red light in a line of cars. The light turned green and a few cars began to speed up and I got rear ended. GEICO did the initial appraisal of damages at $3800 using aftermarket parts.

All I can say is I'm glad this wasn't my Camaro.

Even a G37 deserves a better fate than that.

A few years back I was driving my fully restored 96 Impala when the carbon fiber hood came up at about 60 MPH. The problem was I had everything under the sun powder coated. The latching system failed due to the over abundance of powder coating. Anyways, I had a collectors insurance on the car due to the appraisal value of 56K. An out of state adjuster telephoned and said he would be visiting me to appraise the damage. I was fortunate enough to have a good friend that worked at the local Chevrolet body shop. This friend agreed to be present when the adjuster arrived. Thank God my friend was there as the adjuster was trying every way but loose to cut corners. From "ONLY" pictures I had sent the adjuster he had an appraisal when arriving. He initially said I would have a check for $4000.00 within 72 hours. I then introduced him to my friend who went over the damage with him. About 2 hours later I agreed on $7,200.00 and Chevrolet doing all the work.

What happen to the good ole days when you slipped the adjuster a few Benjamin's and everything went smooth, LOL....

The worse part about getting hit in anything these days is even if it's fixed to perfection, the loss of value on the vehicle can still kill you. I walked away from many potential Cars I was buying because of previous accidents. It's a real value killer, especially on performance and muscle cars.

I DO DD my Camaro, this happened to me late January.

7 weeks later and over 11k in damages and she's back with me though

Hopefully you fight insurance and get that car fixed up correctly!

I've been there. Its not a nice feeling. You and your insurance carrier should hold the offending driver at fault; There is no good excuse for a rear end collision unless someone pushes you into another car.

Good luck.

Edit: You are correct; I would never drive my ace cars on a daily basis. That's what beaters are for. Some beaters may be nice, but the prime reason for having a DD is expendability; You can replace it if things go wrong.

Damn that sucks to see. Hopefully it gets fixed right.

This pretty much confirms what I have heard about GEICO. Hell a guy on my softball team works for them as an adjuster and constantly says what a terrible company it is.

I hope it gets fixed right for resale value. It's just a DD in my eyes.

7 weeks and $11k. It sounds like the other driver got you pretty good.

If anyone's curious who hit me, the license plate number is stamped on my back bumper.

Didn't look so bad, but the whole rear was pulled downward. I was fine, luckily I JUST dropped my son off at daycare and he wasn't in the backseat.

She also ruined my stock exhaust, so a Borla S-Type cat-back went on in its place haha

Had a guy t-bone my Acura TLX and cause $11,000+ worth of damage to it. I didn't want the car back after the accident but they didn't total it and it still isn't right, it has a very noticeable vibration coming from where it was hit when you go over a rough road. I have taken it back to the body shop 3 times now and they can't fix/find it and I am getting tired of dealing with and I know they are tired of seeing me bring it there.
