SS wheels on 1SS 1LE
I have searched and searched but all of the results I'm getting are for putting 1LE wheels onto an SS. I want to go the other way. I just picked up a 2018 1SS 1LE and it's going into daily service for me. That means I'll be driving it through Chicago winters and, you know, those F1s just aren't going to cut it!
I want to pick up a set of SS wheels for off-season driving. I've seen a couple posts about needing spacers to clear the brakes but one of those threads have any final resolution! What is the actual solution? I know I can't possibly be the only one who is going to do this. |

Just put them on. You don't need spacers to clear brakes.

I'm interested in this topic as well as my 1LE is my daily too. We don't get much snow in VA but it does get cold. Well below the 40° the F1s are rated for. At any rate, I thought I read somewhere too that stock ss wheels will not for over the Brembos on the 1LE.
I certainly could be wrong. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk |

GM will let you spec a 2SS with base wheels and the six piston Brembos, which suggests they will fit.

I thought I read that the eLSD could be damaged due to different tire sizes. I would love all season tires for my 1LE as well.

My plan is to grab a set of four 20x10 (front size) MRR 017 (1LE replica) wheels and put 285/30/20 Continental DWS 06's on all corners. Should get me through a cold wet winter without sucking fiercely on the dry days. |

Just to give an example of using a slightly different size on each side of the axle |

The SS 1LE comes with the same exact brakes as the Cadillac ATS-V..... which comes with 18" wheels!

I love love love those 18" Heritage steel wheels from the 5th gen cars. Do we know if those will fit over our brakes? How about 5th gen SS rims? I appreciate all the thoughtful answers. You guys are super knowledgeable and willing to share information. For my first post and technical question on here, I felt like I was welcomed and given some good answers, and I really appreciate it. Thanks for making this my welcome into the community! |

[QUOTE=rootus;9875331]7% is nothing compared to what you get in a corner but over miles of driving I bet it would put on a fair bit of wear. Personally I'd only do it if I had no other options and I'd try to minimize how far I drove.[/QUO
Of course I am only talking about a temporary solution to a situation in which say 305 rear tires are out of stock and I am waiting for some to arrive and during this period (I.E. 2-3 weeks) must get from A-to-B daily drive not more than 200-300 miles total. |
