Dexos 2 is for diesel. You're looking for Dexos(1) Gen 2.

Actually, Dexos 2 can be applied for both Gas and Diesel.
The important advantage of Dexos 2 for Diesel engines in particular, are the additives and detergents in the oil, that take care of eliminating the harmful deposits.
This is also an advantage for cleanliness of Gas engines, especially GDI (Direct Injection) engines, in which there are considerable deposits.

Fact, for the LT1 and LT4 GDI engines, Dexos2 is recommended - At least in my SS/1LE it is.

You have so many other excellent choice of brands meeting the Dexos2 spec.

Thanks for link. But Castrol Edge 0w40 and 5w40 is not Dexos2 approved (that confirmed by Castrol) but well unless list isnt for US then makes sense. When looking at list, its so easy (especially ton of options for Dexos1 Gen2) but there arent many options for Dexos2 from local. This must be very old list? Ive been trying to make a list for Dexos2 that are available from local. I was thinking it could help some people who are looking to buy from local and affordable but good oil. But not enought options.

I just decided go with Amsoil and move on. Lol.

Actually you should have a few choices. Among them, Mobil, Valvoline, Motul...
I like the Motul X-Clean 8100 5W40, but indeed, where I am located, I do have a much wider choice of brands conforming to Dexos2 than back home, mainly due to the popularity of Diesel vehicles that specifically call for this spec.

Why would you put some UNKNOWN oil company;s product in your car? Mobil 1 or Valvoline Platinum are simply some of the best oil made PERIOD....

I just had my 3rd oil change M 1 5-30 .... could NOT find a AC filter went Mobil 1.....

Motul X-Clean is Group 5 like their 300V? I don’t remember. But sure they are quality oil for sure.

My oil change coming up soon, after more research and i have down to Amsoil or Schaeffer. LoL
