Automatic sunroof close?
Anyone know if the sunroof is supposed to close automatically? Mine does not and I have to hold it everytime. The button clicks like it is supposed to have auto close but doesn't. Also when just tilting it the roof starts to fully open if you don't let go... A little annoying but curious if just cse I'm running a base model

It's not supposed to close automatically, too much litigation for somebody getting an arm or a baby caught etc. etc.

You know, I've heard this argument every time this comes up on this forum, but I've been in cars that have full automatic close. Heck, just last week I was in a 2016 Silverado that had automatic close on the sunroof.

"yeah, I was bummed the seat won't go back to position #1 by itself either (when you start the car or something) . you gotta hold the button."
Wife's fob is #2 and mine is #1. Whoever has their fob is what the car sets the seats and mirrors to....when you start the car. |

2016 ATS has automatic close. My 2014 SS does not. Grrrrrrr
Guessing it's a cost thing. For example my SS and ATS have express UP windows for the FRONT windows only. The rears require you to hold the button. To be automatic closing, FMVSS regulations require that when unattended (finger off the switch) the partition (sunroof or window) must automatically reverse if obstructed. If you care to, stick a pencil in your sunroof and think finger. And to be clear I didn't suggest using your finger and think of the poor pencil. So either comply with the Government regulation for auto closing or have an attended close.

I do wonder tho why the button depresses twice like it is meant to auto close... I know GM is doing better at hiding sharing parts over models but maybe this is the same bottom used in other models that do auto close? |
