Kneepads Question

I ordered a 2SS and there's an option to purchase kneepads, but it's $350! Does anyone know if the 2SS comes with leather or felt kneepads stock, or does it come stick with the hard-plastic kneepads?

I hope I don't sound like a first-world problem guy, but I am talking about kneepads in my sports car...

It is easy to take the stock knee pads, added foam padding and upholster with staples and hot glue. Then you can use any material you like including higher quality leather. I used black bandanas.

$10 vs $350.

Yeah I bought a set of black leather with grey stitching off of eBay a few months ago for $125. Totally upgraded my 1SS interior doing that!

Thanks! I was thinking of going with Kalahari kneepads to match the interior in case it delivers with hard plastic ones, but if it comes with black leather ones I think I'll be just fine.

I bought two sets off of Ebay, both were barely over $100...They pop up a lot. So now I will be able to change mine over, and have a spare set.

A lot of members is going to be hitting you up.! Upgrading the plastic knee pads for the leather ones is a HUGE difference for the interior.

I want to do this so bad. But I want Grey/Black ones (that is, grey leather on the top part of the pad, and black leather on the bottom)....basically a custom looking setup. Went to my local upholstery guy and he told me it would likely cost me over $300 to do my plastic ones like I wanted. Well crap.

If GM just made GREY ones to match my grey interior, I'd just go with that, but they don't! Dangit.

I might just end up with black leather and grey stitching after all.

DIY. Do you have a local fabric store? Just buy some foam padding. I made mine more padded than ones being sold.

Look at how the fabric is stapled and glued on the OEM ones. I just copied that exactly. It cost a little over $10 to do, mostly because I had to buy 2 pieces of fabric to get the same pattern for each pad.

Mine came with the black plastic knee pads. When I bought the SS brakes from a member here he also had some leather kneepads for sale for $50 along with some colored door items. Now my interior is no longer boring. The ones I bought are black leather with Red stitching. Car is white.

2SS should come with leather kneepads matching the interior. Maybe the $350 option is some sort of upgrade.
