2019 SCCA Time Trials Classing Requests!

I already mentioned this in one of the Autocross threads but figured I should make dedicated thread for it for those like me that are planning on competing in Time Trials as well next year.

So right now all 2016+ Camaro SS models are in Sport 1, the problem is that class also has multiple Mclarens, all Porsche GT cars and the C7 GS/Z06 (and probably ZR1 too), not to mention ZL1s & ZL1 1LEs so needless to say the SS and SS 1LE will get destroyed if any of these show up with decent drivers.

So I wrote a letter requesting the 2016+ SS (along with 5th gen ZL1 & Z/28) be moved to Sport 2 where I think they would fit much better.

If you guys agree with me please do the same!!!! Even if you don't plan on participating in TT the more letters the better!

Thoughts??

What would it be running against in Sport 2?

Thanks for the lists . . . odd that there aren't any Challengers though.

There's also some confusion about the Shelby Mustang GT 2005+ --- do they mean the GT500, the non-GT500 Shelby GT Mustang, or are they lumping both of them into Sport1? Not that it matters to me like it would to somebody looking for a loophole.

Yea it's clear to see that their classing needs some work. The Challengers are included in the Tuner class but not sport for whatever reason and I would even go as far to say put the Sheby's in S2 as well.

I spoke with Jon (event operations manager) last week and we chatted about the classing of the SS1LE. There was originally a bit of confusion on some zl1 1LE / SS 1e differences. He mentioned “the large aero and adjustable coilover originally kept it s1” and i mentioned to him thhat was only on the Z le. Anyhow, at the end of the conversation he said it will be in s2 soon. Guess it really happened!

SS 1LE & z/28 are pretty darn close, same driver & tires. Having driven both, think the SS 1LE has the edge with a 305 square setup. The PP1 & PP2 Mustang should be in there too.

This is great news! Will probably do the CMP & NCM event. Had a blast at Nationals.
