I did run MP4S one day at Portland Intl and was about a second off of my GY3R time, but light years better on the street.

I have run Bridgstone S007A and Nitto Invo on the street. Both have a slightly softer ride than the 3R's, the s007a a little softer ride than the Invo. Both have good street behavior, Invo's are quieter and track better on grooved pavement. Have not run the MP4S.

Toyo R888R... I guarantee you there is no better tire out there for this car. I got over 12k miles out of a set and it WASNT a ginger 12k.

In 2018 I spent nearly 10k alone testing every single tire and with my car having 900bhp I can promise you that you will thank me later.

Jason, how did the MP4S compare to the R888R's?

and to add to this question, any track time? seems like a good in between the SC3R and MP4S

The MP4S was good, however it still couldnt handle the car acceleration wise. When the tire would let loose, it never came back until I lifted and pedaled a lot. I never tracked on this tire for this reason. I went straight to the MPSC2 N0 spec. The MPSC2 was a much firmer tire for the track, but still couldnt handle the acceleration on the street and street tire temps. But for track this isnt an issue so I only track the Cup2 N0.

As for the R888R, when I would goose it, the tire would spin a bit initially and would always catch and pull. Even with over 900ftlbs of tq, I BARELY spin second when using NLS (M6). In fact, I even ran my 10sec 1/4 and managed a 1.8 60ft with a cold R888R.

The problem with thee R888R is they tend to be a more "peaky" tire on track. They have the best cold grip, and heat up fast... but then fall off pretty gradually. But then again, so does the Cup2 N0, however it doesnt seem to fade as fast.

See my previous reply.

The MP4S was never a track tire in my opinion, so I simply never tracked on it.

The ONLY reason Im not running the SC3R on track is I need a tire that can handle acceleration bias a little better. Something I really had to research and adjust for was not only sidewall stiffness and lateral grip, but acceleration too since a stiff sidewall tire inherently has lees acceleration grip capabilities which would cause me issues on corner exit, especially when I reach max torque at 3800 rpm.

Im still searching for the perfect track tire for my setup. Im considering trying out the Trofeo R for my next track day but these are not easy to come by in our size and tire rack often has them only as special order.

But for the OPs original question I took an assumption that we are discussions street performance, which the R888R is still supreme.

Jason, thank you. My next set of tires will never see the track, I'll give the R888R's a serious look.

With regards to performance you won’t be disappointed, the only thing to be aware of is the R888R makes a hum when rolling. Since my car is already incredibly loud and “race car” I personally don’t care

That's fine, I plan on making the car louder with an exhaust mod.

I run Hankook ventus V2, I have been surprised by them, if your looking for a tire for spirited driving a great wet performance, I would look into them

I would go with the F1 SC3 tires that come on the SS 1LE and ZL1. They come in ZLE sizes now on Tire Rack.

They are more performance oriented than the PS4, so you keep most of the performance levels of the ZLE, while being better for wet weather (although still not as good as the PS4), more grip with less heat than the 3R's, and longer life.

As for performance A++++++ on the R888R, as for ride and wet performance C+ at best. I have several cars and the Wife is Daily driving the ZLE that why I have the Hankooks. when I convert it to just a cars and coffe car and "toy" I will have R888R's on it.
