As mentioned, instant-on radar used in a moving patrol car is something you can't avoid. You have 1-2 seconds to slow if you're lucky! Around here Laser is done on the side of the road and it'll often show up on Waze. It seems like Laser is falling out of fashion though, I haven't seen them setting up a laser trap for along time now.

You must be joking us? You are apparently unfamiliar with Colorado terrain (hills, mountains, etc.) which radar definitely doesn't penetrate.

I've gotten two tickets in the last 7 years - one on laser, the other radar.

I used to pick up lazer signals in my area as well, but I haven't picked up one yet. I know they still use them in BC, but maybe not as often? Dunno.
Anyway, just know that radar detector or lazer shifting can only do so much. I use mine mostly for avoiding petty speeding tickets(as in less than 20 km/h or 13 MPH over the limit), and to figure out where cops tend to hide(which Waze does, as some mentioned). I know someone who is training to become an officer and he told me that at least in Canada, they are trained to be able to eyeball your speed to a certain extent, so if you are going like 40 km/h or 25 MPH over, they still know. Sent from toaster or something

Laser action today in Texas. Shared radar though. Either the cop got someone or someone took an exit near by and got hit.

Just ordered the uniden, Waze didn’t work well late at night in the dark with not much traffic to report the bears in the woods.
