I just bought a 2016 1SS A8 and every time I go over some rough roads or hit small potholes I hear a loud metal clunking noise. It sounds like it's straight metal hitting metal but I could be wrong. Has anyone had similar issues? It's only on rougher roads, hitting potholes, or when the car is making turns at an angle.

Mine had a loud metal on metal bang when turning the wheel when sitting still. Bad steering rack.

Thanks for the input. I'm getting it looked at by the dealer sometime this week, hopefully they can figure out whats wrong with it.

So I took it to the dealer and it looks like it was a loose sway bar. I don't know how that happened since it's a newer car but whatever. Right before I took it in it was making a clunk noise when I turned the wheel all the way and over bumps and rougher roads.

I have mine at the dealer right now for this (and a couple other issues) very reason. Thanks for posting what the issue was that they found. I'm going to drop by today and let them know to check the sway bar.
