Best radar detector?

Just picked up the 2020 LT1 and am looking to get a radar detector. What one do you guys recommend? Not trying to break the bank necessarily. Some of the more expensive ones on amazon allow you to pay it over 6-12 months which would be fine with me if it’s a top notch one

I’m looking for the best out there around a max of $400, then another good one for max of $150

I'm unsure of the price now, but If my valentine-1 broke tomorrow, I'd buy another one just like it.

I recently purchased a Radenso Pro M.
I really like it so far.
Excellent range and hardly any false alarms. Check out the online reviews.
Good luck with your choice.

Uniden R3/R7, V1, Passport Redline, Max 360, any highend Passport/Escort is fine
There's no shortage of detector info on this site, just search and you'll find lots.

And fwiw, in my opinion, there are no good $150 radar detectors. I'd suggest you add that $150 to your $400, and buy one of the above.

Get ready for lots of false alarm alerts from lane changing assist radar (LCA), it was a shock to me when I finally re-bought a detector.
Acura's and Honda's are the worst for that.

You can send a V-1 in to be upgraded if and when new features come out. Not cheap, but better than buying a new unit every x number of years.

The V-1 has a feature called "junk K fighter" that gets rid of almost all of the false alarm alerts from lane changing assist radar (LCA) or the blind spot radar. Works really well - I had mine upgraded for that feature and am glad I did. Any radar detector that can't filter that out is going to be going off all the time on the highway, making it useless.

The V-1 has directional arrows AND a bogey counter. These, IMHO, are critically important features. The arrows let you know front, back, or sides, and the bogey counter is how many. Many a speeder has been caught when they go past a cop and then speed up, only to find there is another one right down the road. With the arrows and the bogey counter this can never happen to you.

I'd make sure you can switch off X and K, in my state it's Ka and laser only. Barring that I'd look into which one avoids falses better, too many falses and it's a useless PITA.

Also if you care about direction there are some with arrows, but I don't care where they are, I just want a beep and a level meter so I know when I'm about to be clocked and when it's a distant threat I don't need to slam the brakes on for.

This happened to me: I was on the highway, and kept picking up a weak radar signal intermittently. This went on for a while. Minutes. Eventually, the signal got stronger and stronger. After while, a state trooper went by me on the paved shoulder, going in the same direction as traffic.

Had I not had the V-1 arrows, I would have had to have my head on a swivel to spot him. But, with the arrows, I knew he was coming up behind me. Personally, I find it very useful to know the direction of the threat. That's cool if you don't care, but I find that it comes in handy.

I run a Valentine V1, w/ Valentine’s ‘Junk k Fighter’ software.

I enjoy the arrows on the V1, as it helps with situational awareness.

Uniden R3 is a great detector and a good buy at around $300. It can be picked up for even less if you sign up for an account with Rakuten because they will immediately send you a coupon code.

Uniden R3

Uniden R7 has been on sale several times over the past month for $499 if you check on a regular basis.
