At 6'1 I agree I cannot comfortably drive the vehicle (M6) with the seat too far forward. If I drove an automatic I think I would be okay just using the gas pedal and brake squished forward, otherwise I don't think it's plausible with the clutch to be squeezed into a smaller space.

I agree - I have found that the backseat can hold 2-3 cases of wine for weekend trips to Sonoma and Napa!!

This is the problem I face. Manual makes it harder behind the driver. That said, I can easily fit 2 on the passenger side (one front, one rear). Tall folks will hit their head, but not everyone is tall.

The biggest issue with the back seat is headroom. My father literally can't sit upright and he's only 5'9" short people are ok back there. It's one reason I wish I hadn't got a sunroof as I think it reduces the clearance.

I have used the backseat for around town driving with two women in the passenger and rear seat behind it - these women are 5'4" to 5'7" and small. There is no chance of getting somebody behind me even at only 6' - especially with the clutch operation.

I wouldn't do a day long trip like that - but it would work for a few hours if needed.

Again as others have said - very dependent on the size of all parties involved.

There is about the same backseat room in my 2nd gen. The 3rd gen had a bit more but not a ton more.

These are 2+2 cars - meaning really designed for 2 people with the ability to carry an additional person or two with some level of compromise. Better than a 911. Certainly more useful than a Corvette in this respect. But it's just not a replacement for a sedan.

I think the comment about the auto vs manual as well as the one about the sunroof are spot on. I'm 6'2", and my wife of 5'5" and kids ranging in age from 8 to 14 can ride behind me. Trust me, they do have legs.

My car is an auto with no sunroof, and my normal driving (not exit) position leaves about an inch between the headliner and my head. When driving a manual, I definitely push the seat back further to easily operate the clutch.

On that note, I don't see the reason for these threads to crop up again and again, we always get the same gamut of answers.

Does the sunroof have more or less headroom? Both mine have had sunroofs.

Really?? I had a 2011 SS and traded that in when I bought the 2017 SS. I had both at the dealer and measured with my seat in the same position on both cars. 2011 had about one inch more room. It was hardly worth bragging about like some of the GEN5 guys do. LOL

I think I read you lose about 2" when you have a sunroof. I had one in my 2011 but I never opened it and like the roof lines without it, so I didn't get one when I ordered the 2017.

I'm 6'4" tall and I modified my driver seat to fully recline, so, in my customary driving position, there's literally 1/2" between the driver seat and the back seat. I didn't purchase a Camaro to transport more than one passenger, but I still appreciate the additional interior volume of the Camaro relative to a C7 or other traditional sports car.

I've never really looked into the back on a 5th gen - I drove a handful during test drives but never pulled the trigger on an upgrade until the 6th gen came out.
