What to keep an eye on

Hey guys, I'll apologize if there's a thread somewhere but I can't find it. Please provide the link after write something funny at my expense

I'm interested in known problems with the LT4 or the ZL1 1LEs. On other forums there's whole threads devoted to people posting up all kinds of blown up Subaru motors. I had to install a new tranny in my Dodge if I wanted to tune my Cummins 6.7L for any kinda power as the 68re is known to be junk. I don't see that here. Is there a good place to find a list of things I should watch for? Are Camaros bomber? How's GM as far as honoring their warranty?

I figure I'll check for leaks and keep good rubber on the rims and I should be good for any track day.

Dont know if there are any real gotchas that are wide spread, for street use. There were some threads on here about some 2018 (august thru october) late build cars having oil pump failures. The stock tires only seem to last approximately 10K miles. If you dont drive your often, batteries will just die unless kept on a tender.

Aside from the oil pump failures there are some TSBs for wiring in a couple places in the engine compartment that can rub through. Honestly, the LT4 has proven to be a really reliable engine. You’ll see a few posts about problems, but nothing widespread in any one area.

The factor of safety on the LT4 internals is at least 75% probably closer to 100% ... many folks routinely take their cars to 1000hp+ without issue. It's a total monster.

The three ZL1 wiring TSB's are attached (2 can be done without lifting the car and are easy to do yourself). All can/will be fixed on GM's dime while the car is under original 3/36 warranty.

The only thing you'll need to keep your eye on is the speedometer and the gas gauge.

Definitely true...

I think it's exaggerated by the full sweep gauge, but I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle where the fuel gauge moved so quickly...

My cam split at just under 13k, replaced under warranty. First one with an engine problem from the 17’s I believe lmao.

Just one comment, even though I have an SS and not a ZL1, I follow those threads as well and there is no consistent failure theme on this forum about the LT4 or the ZL1 (1LE) in general. A few little issues here and there, nothing serious or consistent. You should be good to go.

Now I know why the gas guzzler tax was 2x more than the M6.
Holy cow the A10 loves the gas compared to the M6.

In California any car under 7000 miles is considered new, has to be 50 state emissions and pays the gas guzzler tax :(
