Seems like fuel burning anywhere other than within the combustion chamber would be inefficient & wasteful?

I have a 2018 ZL1 and my exhaust does some popping and crackling when cold.

Usually goes away once the engine is up to temp.

I'm aware the cars crackle and pop on start up and when cold. What I wanted to know is if the 2019 model years were tuned differently similar to the 2019 SS and Z06 model years.

I suppose I'll find out in a few days, but I hadn't seen anything on this and have been very curious.

I was disappointed with the snap, crackle & pop that I got with my LS3 coming over to the LT4, but now I’m running an AWE touring non resonated with PLP and there is plenty of it. Especially before the car is warmed up

One thing you will hear is the supercharger whine in the ZL1 as compared to the SS which is music to my ears and sounds a lot better than popping and cracking.

From experience, a 2016 SS pops and cracks A LOT more than a 2019 ZL1. Haven’t heard a 2019 SS yet.

I just got my axle back of this installed the other day....yummy....def more crackles, you want more? Get an axle back at least and cut off that coffin underneath the car. I’d cut those tips off before you scrap the old ones if you do. That on top of a CAI and you’ll be 20x more happy driving lol it’s like driving a different car.

Add some headers or an axleback and you will get more crackle snap pop. I had my tuner add more fuel on decel and when the car is hot it has all kinds of pops haha, love it.

My 19' will crackle and pop when pushed hard in performance mode. I read where Gm did make a change with the 19' to do this.

Yes, it is indeed a fact that the 2019+ model year SS, ZL1, Grandsport, Z06 and ZR1 all got updated tunes from GM that specifically cause more crackles and pops. I've seen the changes in the tunes as I've come across the newer model year cars. It can be applied to any 2014-2018 Corvette or 2016-2018 Camaro in the same manor or even more aggressive.

I don't know for sure if GM's sole reason was for more crackles but when looking at the tunes it sure looks like that was the effort.

Is the popping a parameter change that can be made without taking your ECU's virginity? (Leaving it "untuned"?). I would assume not, as it's likely decelerations fuel cut off tables.

This is good to hear. I wonder if the ZL1's pops are on the level of the SS's. Well I'll know soon enough, but the wait is getting rough!

no, you will have to flash the ECU

They are pretty close but it looks like the Auto SS's got the most aggressive pop tune. Not by much though so the difference really might not be noticeable to the ears.

Muffler delete with resonators and you will get tons of burble and decel pops. Guaranteed.
