If you want to do good at the drag strip you are going to want a set of 17' rear wheels with drag radials for the track. A bolt on SS with stock tires is going to have a tough time with even a stock SS with a tire on all but the most amazing prep. These cars hit hard out of the hole. Not easy to put all the power down without a tire.

Tuned with e85
Ported TB Ported intake manifold RotoFab CAI dry filter 180 T stat Lightweight wheels and Mickey Thompson DR's If you're lucky or good, you can run low 11's thru the factory exhaust manifolds and cats. That should max out the budget with those mods. Don't cheap out on the tuning, these cars are finicky and they run great when dialed in correctly.

Plans to drag? Or race?
You didn't say. I would pass on the headers....that's an easy $1000 right there or more. Rather buy some new rubber.

X2 on what king said. Personally I would do Prays ported heads before I would do long tubes. I like the sound of the stock shorty headers better than long tubes. If you want some more sound do the secondary cat delete.

With 3.5k would you be interested in saving another 2k it would be worth it to procharge it even with the base components stg1 kit with the p1x and still make 150+whp with growing room and ability to be upgraded with intercooler and blowoff etc later. If you get the blower then later small stuff wont really matter cause you would need a fuel system and forged internals before hand so this is the best bang for buck cause all the bolt ons available wont net you what you can get here and when you get to that level you'll be 10k plus in it. Just food for thought brother.

Also a little more info, for 5500 for the base procharger kit you can hit the 10s at the quarter on street tires, most of these cars that are in the 10s on streets in the quarter are cammed plus full exhaust and e85 with other supporting mods and they are in the car all around 8 to 10k with labor cost at reputable shops but cant go anywhere else until they upgrade the fuel and at least drop ins. yes this would be the same for the charger kit but at least you saved 3 to 5k doing so and then still have the ability to make more power with the same parts needed for the bolt on car.

We cannot assume everyone can do installs by themselves.
Labor should be factored in as well. A Procharger may be a bolt on for some. But not all.

True but even then cam install vs procharger install labor is still more intensive and time consuming and more cost at any shop. But we are talking about a 3.5k budget here and not 5 or more but it is def a worthy thought.

I see it all the time bud here at State capitol raceway. A few guys with just procharged 6 gens are in the 10s. Stock Zl1s as well and they are making equal power. I'm sure there are some youtube vids as well or forums if you look into them. Just streets that is.

With a 3500 budget you should be able to go with a cam and full bolt on installed. You might even be able to get your heads ported if you do the work yourself. That makes for one fun street car on this platform. A couple more grand would get you into forced induction like mentioned above but the install on it will cost you to as they are generally 8-10 hours of labor.
