Clear Coat Flaws

While i was washing my car today i noticed a spot on my hood where it looked like there was a flaw on the clear coat, i chocked it up to maybe something stuck there untill i started noticing them all over in various places and they wont come clean. Anyone else have this problem? I tried to grab some pictures but my phone cant pick them up. Its a mosiac black 1ss.

Will need pics to say what it is.
Were they dirt spots, cloudiness, etc?

My car had the same. Dealer had to repaint sections to repair the issue. I have found about 6 spots on the 2016 Malibu loaner I am driving now as well.

Kinda angers me that you spend all that money on a car and its got that many imperfections in the paint. Hopefully a dealer can sort this out and fix it without making it look worse

I am afraid of that on mine. I was told it went in the body shop on 6-13 and I have not heard back from them yet.

Mine had them,..you can polish them out. I believe they are marks left from an idiot on the assembly line "polishing" out dirt that was in the clear. I had about 5 or 6 I found after a few weeks.

If they're cloudy, probably spots where there was dirt/dust in clear and got wet sanded but not buffed out.

My car has a few spots of dirt in the clear. When I get enough scratches to warrant the time, I'll wet sand those before buffing the car.

Does anyone have any idea on the time till it is no longer valid for the dealer to fix it if i need to? Sure i want them fixed if they need to be fixed but i also don't want to spend several weeks without her for a few little spots that aren't noticeable unless you are looking.

Go look at a new Aston Martin, Ferrari or Lamborghini. Those cars are $250K plus and have the worst defects than any US car maker.

They are wet sanded to remove the orange peel, but the guys who work in the finishing dept. don't know how to finis down the paint.

I fix cars like this all the time.

The key is to not let the dealer do your new car prep, those guys have no idea what they are doing.

I found a few on mine that i didnt notice until after under florescent lights...corner of hood and above wheel well on front fender..also on the top of the nose of the car...the nose was more cloudy and keeps coming back a little bit after polishing...the other 2 areas......polished out for the most part...almost looks like the QC person on the line used 300 grit vs 3000 grit to wet sand out clear coat imperfections...

Hey Luke1212385,

We regret to hear of the paint imperfections that you discovered on your Camaro. We can imagine how upsetting this must be as you do not expect these type of concerns with a newer vehicle. We do recommend contacting your local dealership to see what options are available to fix this. We are happy to reach out to them on your behalf to bring your paint concerns to their attention. If interested, send us a message including your contact info, VIN, mileage and selling dealership.

Best,

Erica W.

I had this problem too. Dealer got them out with a clay bar the same day I dropped it off.

I really wish mine would have been this simple. 2 full weeks at the body shop so far.
