I finished a track weekend on 19" R888R 295 and 305 widths. The performed about as well as the stock 1LE tires, but held up significantly better. I can barely tell they were ran. Track alignment at Barber MSP.

thats good to hear, I have a v6 1le but I'm thinking of getting the exact same tire setup....everyone says a lot of bad things about the r888r in terms of outright grip but they come in a lot of sizes, not too expensive, and hopefully they'll last me a little longer than re71r and just hold up to track abuse better overall.

I've also tried the Advan a052 in 255f/285r in stock 20" and they wear out in 2-3 track days for me. If I could find a tire that will last at least 4 track days with similar levels of grip i'd be happy, consumables are getting expensive on this car...

I recently did the math:
~$300/hour chewing through track tires
~$150/hour chewing through track brake pads
~$100/hour buying gas at the track at 3.9 MPG

This is assuming 3 track days, 6 hours of track, and having to replace all 4 corner tires/pads. I generally have at least another day left in the rears after 3 days but don't want to service the car mid-way through my next track weekend so I do all 4.

This cheap track car is expensive

I think there is a substantial difference in consumables cost between zl1 1le and ss 1le. Starting with tires...
But as they say: speed costs

yes even my car is similar, i thought i was saving a lot more money with the v6 engine but not really lol. I do spend less on brake pads (~$500 a set every 6 track days), and fuel (7mpg), but tires are pretty similar.

In preparation for next season though I picked up two sets of very lightly used RE71R for cheap so that should last me through hopefully 3 track days each set. Eventually I'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy 18" wheels and cheap 200tw or 100tw tires that are narrower than 305 width....seems like once the first number starts with a 3 thats when the tire costs reeeally increase.

You seem to pay quite a bit for brake pads...holy moly!

Yeah I've been using the carbotech xp10 all around, they were probably closer to $450 a set I think, the rears do tend to last a bit longer than the fronts though. Might have to try a different brand next time though as the carbotechs are great but they are very pricey.

For me xp10 felt pretty much the same as stockers, but more $.

Set 4: -2.7 camber, lasted 2 track days but corded the front driver inside driver again at Buttonwillow #1 CCW.
Set 5: -3.2 camber, zero toe this time (had been running -.04 toe out). I'll lose turn-in but hopefully, save the insides. Looking for my next track weekend.
Set 5: -3.2 camber, lasted 2 track days, zero toe, could have lasted 3
Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s with Michelin Track Connect
Set 6: -3.2 camber, lasted 3 track days, zero toe
Switched to Toyo R888Rs
Set 7: -3.2 camber, lasted 4 track days (could possibly have lasted 5) but I didn't like the feel and were slower.

I've started to do Time Trials so I think I'm going back to the F1s.

I've yet to meet anyone who actually likes R888Rs for anything but roll racing as they hook well. Not good for road course

They're better than most of the summer street tires, and will last longer than some of the new 'super 200s', but they're about the oldest R comp design/compound still being sold. No surprise they don't measure up on track.

I should have stated OEM ZLE sizes. It comes in both a 305/30/19 and a 325/30/19.
