We don’t know how many were passed down, and I think knowing what they’re driveing— or even what they’re not, is still telling.

I'm not their fan by any stretch, but this is excessively categorical, they did have nice things to say about the 6th gen V6:

Perhaps the ragging might be a result of their journalist crashing an SS test mule, which left him disappointed and made him pout trying to find a scapegoat.

Since I am unfortunately grouped right in the middle of Millenials, the only info I can relay is what my friends are driving/buying.

The majority of them that have cars are buying used cars, and in the group that buys used cars, the majority of that is just something reliable to get them from A to B. The very few that have bought something new, look for those same qualities. What will get me from home to work and hold all my junk. Only one of my friends has a new car that's a performance car and that is the guy on my team that has an SS Sedan. The other ones that have new cars have SUV's, CUV's and trucks.

Other friends don't even have cars because they live in the city so they just Uber/Lyft everywhere.

Also has a lot to do with cost-of-living to wage ratios - while inflation continues with more expensive cars, food, etc, the wages haven't followed the same trend (speaking to entry level and younger working crowd wages).

So it becomes increasingly more difficult to afford/attain a performance car that is new in your younger years. 18 years ago, it was everything I could afford just to buy a 2nd owner 4th gen Camaro SS. And that was making twice the minimum wage while renting a room in a trailer...worth it - LOL!
