Cam for a LSA

I have a lq9 engine in my project truck, that will have ls3 heads and a lsa blower on top. The engine was bored .030 over with mahle pistons adn scat rods. I have two cams one from BTR and other from texas speed that they recommend. Was looking for second opinions if possible form lsa people.

Texas speed:
TSP LS3 stage 2 supercharger cam 227/235, .641"/.649", 114 LSA

Brian Tooley:
BTR PDS Stage 3 torque cam. 226/25x .636/.636 112.5LSA

I've been happy with my BTR PDS stage 3 but I'm running a Whipple not an LSA.

I went with the BTR stage 3 torque PDS cam. Wish I could give you a report on how it feels. But I’m still about a week or 2 away from finally getting mine fired up and running. I like that they built this cam with keeping torque in mind. Many cams sacrifice so much low end just to achieve glory up top. Which is ok if that’s what you want. But my intention is to have a tire shredding street car. I have no intentions to go to the strip. So wanted driveability and torque to remain intact.

It’s all what you want for your own ride. You could go with a custom cam too. Lots of good cam builders out there who can take input on what you want and spec a cam to match it perfectly.

I appreciate your input. The previous cam I had from TSP killed my low end, but that was before LSA. I dont hit the drag strip either, just cruiser and being able to feel that down low torque is what I want. Sounds like BTR is the way to go. But high RPM wont take a dump though with this cam will it, would at least like some power

Mine pulls hard to redline, especially once I put on the larger throttle body.

nice, good info to have. Obviously not apples to apple but just good rapport. I read another thread on here comparing TSP and BTR on a blower setup. Everyone had good things to say about both but in the end the BTR cam was the choice there among people also. Driveability and idle was better with BTR and still had good sound to it

Most likely it wasn't your cam killing your low end more likely incorrect torque converter.

About even on the cam preference sounds like. I agree with the torque converter but also running a stock lq9 with ls3 heads killed my compression so no down low power. When I moved to a t56 transmission it helped a bunch. Going to make good use of those heads now with a lsa.
