Well, I ended up not only with J-Pipes but the Hi-Flo Cats as well.
The exhaust turn out just right!

The highway Drone is gone! When I give it the gas, it wakes up and let's you know it's there. City driving is nice too without being obnoxious. They really did a nice job with getting everything lined up too. Overall I think they do a great job. Tuning an exhaust is not an easy thing to do.

Can't comment much on the Cats yet but I'm optimistic. Perhaps a bit better response. The track will tell more.

When I got back I did notice that there was hardly any exhaust soot on the exhaust tips. I have always had soot build up pretty quickly. Not sure what that means. If anybody has any ideas, let me know.

Thanks Team Solo!
Glad to hear it turned out well, its was nice to meet you.

Usually when you add cats, it promotes more airflow (leaner) through the engine since it elliminates the factory restrictive cats. Thus, since these zeta cars are tuned "from the factory" as pig rich (black soot) you've probably done your car a service by adding the hf cats, not only ~20-25hp performance boost, but you've normalized out the factory rich fuel trims a bit which means that your factory tune is closer to "perfect" than it was with the stock cats!

Glad to hear the J-pipes worked out so well for you!

Thanks Zep. That makes sense. I was getting carpel tunnel from all the cleaning. Now all I need is a solution for break dust.
Noisemaker, good meeting you too.

Glad to hear your experience with the J-Pipes Erick - they make a world of difference.

I had exactly the same thing happen with the soot. Lots of soot before the change to the cats and J pipe system, and almost no soot after. So, there's something consistent happening there. I also get noticeably better gas mileage now. Are you seeing that too? I run premium fuel, BTW

The soot/deposits are from a 'rich mixture' ... aka, unburned fuel. So now that you're not getting as much deposits means that your mixture is closer to Stoich (12.8 or so) and your engine is burning the fuel more efficiently than factory stock configuration.

Engine using less fuel (less fuel wasted in exhaust pipes) = better fuel efficiency

= Good!

I can see that it may run leaner and more efficient, but won't this run hotter? I imagine the extra fuel may be needed to cool off the heads.

Also leaning past stock or some ratio near it can pull timing to protect the engine with 11.3/1 cr? Why airaid cai had problems, to lean and had to redesign to keep close to stock AF.Maybe on exhaust side is o.k.?

Not sure on either account... but I do know that the cooling system in modern cars is very efficient. Also, if your ECM detects a 'too lean' condition, it will throw off a CEL, like if the base tune is more than 20% too rich or too lean, it'll throw the check engine light. So if you have no light, I don't think there are any ill effects, as far as the ECM is concerned. The engine is just a glorified air pump, and you just made it a bit more efficient at exhaling, that's all.

I helped on the exhale with the Hi-Flo cats and inhale with the Roto-Fab CAI.
