Not enough apparently… here’s the bearings for an LS3/L99 amongst a lot of other gen 3/4 engines just for starters…

Yeah, the books are nice to have. Page 9–1936 says that the oil exits the oil cooler and is then directed to the upper main oil galleries and the valve lifter oil manifold assembly oil from the upper oil gallery is then directed down to the crankshaft and camshaft. That’s why the dart block is so nice my opinion.

Come on Chris! We're here to help the OP and learn in the process. Don't take things personal when someone corrects. I get schooled here a lot and have been proven wrong numerous times, especially in tracking the car.

Hope you don't take offense.

You would be surprised how much oil pressure can bleed off the journals. Just tossing it out there because I seen it more than once. I always check the cam journals against the old cam and go from there. 5 big leaks when its hot, sometimes you can hear the cam rattling in the block too because its way loose. Not saying thats it but its much more common then you think. I been down this road a few times and its aggravating to say the least. I would check the oring and if there is no problem there i'll bet its the cam bearing-cam journals fit.

Hopefully for your sake it is as simple as the o-ring. How many miles are on it? It wouldn't have hurt to put a bore gauge in the block & verify the cam journal diameters just for peace of mind. There are many variables here but check the most obvious first.

I'm with the pick up tube oil ring myself. Or maybe it didn't seat all the way. That's the reason why I installed this little guy when I rebuilt my engine. https://www.michiganmotorsports.com/...46a3c410f3a3a0

But if it was me I would replace the oil pump too just for peace of mind.

What brand oil pump are you using. Also if it’s a Melling pump what color spring are you using. I am wondering if the oil pump bypass valve is sticking and bypassing oil at low engine speeds.

Replaced the valley cover last night, the oil pressure did rise at cold start to around 40psi but still has a slow drop off once its warmed up. So onto the fun part tonight and gonna drop the cross member and replace the pickup tube and o-ring. keep yall updated appreciate the input. hopefully my next message will be saying the oil pressure issue is fixed.

I forgot to add on the original post, I did replace the cam retainer plate and torqued it to factory spec per all data just like everything else. doubled and triple checked everything. I did put in a new gm oil pump, got it when I ordered the cam from Texas speed. I see what you guys are saying about the cam journals but the vehicle did not have any oil pressures issues prior to the install and the cam came out smoothly and went in the same.
