TR6060 4l80e swap

Well finally decided, 4L80e swap is next on the list. If anyone is interested I will be selling the MG9 TR6060 out of My 2015 ZL1 with 84k on the transmission. Also up for grabs, Tilton st246 twin disk (Cerametallic), Tilton 6000 series slave cylinder both with only 1k miles, Tick master cylinder (new never installed), speed bleeder, remote reservoir, driveshaft and shifter. Everything is currently still in the car so I can show it working without issue by video or in person, but it will all be coming out very soon. shipping will be available if you are not able to pick up. Pm me if interested.

Status Report

Well ive got a Stage 3 4l80e with Jake's d3 transbrake ordered. Wondering what others that has done this swap on a zl1 did with the cooler lines feeding the rear diff. I'm thinking about just running the differential back in with the new lines to the new cooler but wanted to get some feedback from others.

Nobody...... iv found some weld up the ports on the diff and not run fluid through the diff. not a fan of that idea although probably ok for the dragstrip i think i still would like the extra cooling. From what I've gathered the 4l80e transmission has a really capable pump so my thoughts are it shouldn't have any problems supplying plenty of flow and the additional fluid should aid in cooling. Guess I'll find out the hard way

Most of they guys on here I've seen, including me, just leave the ports open with nothing in them if they run a ZL1 or Z28 diff without the cooling lines. I have cooling set up on both of mine now, but I ran then for a while with nothing in them and they never leaked. I can tell you the fittings are o-ringed, but they did not take the same AN fitting as the trans or radiator. It might have been the same thread size, but IIRC the oring would not seat.

The factory lines come out of the rad and into the diff where fluid temps increase and then to the trans. If you want to run the diff cooler with a trans brake, perhaps you should run to the in on the trans and then from the trans output to the diff and then back to the rad. I run a clutch so I never had to figure that out.

2011 Vert - 416/w 230/236 .612/.602 115lsa, 1LE suspension w/32mm rear bar. Z28 diff. ZL1 brakes.

Solid advice, thanks. I was looking into the design or the rear diff cooler and can see they wouldnt leak. Believe I will run them as you recamended. I was wondering about the O-ring fittings, if i cant find an adapter I guess I can make one from the existing lines.

I cut the line ends off about 6+ inches back, put on AN nuts and flared them. I use a 6an to 6an male/male coupler to join them to the braided lines. That way they can be popped in and out just like the factory lines. I used 6an/6orb fittings at the trans and radiator. The radiator connection is the most sketchy because the shoulder of the orb side of the fitting is much smaller than the factory piece. You can't really mix the fluids, but if you don't have the oring seated properly and tight enough, coolant will drip. Ask me how I know.
