What exhaust do you have and do you like it?
Hey Guys, Jason here with Phastek.
I wanted to get a fresh perspective on the exhaust you have and how you feel about it. On our store we offer a wide range of exhaust for the Camaro. The thing is, we know what we like, but we dont get enough information back from our customers on what they don't like or even if they like the exhaust they have. Grant it, we do get reviews on the exhaust product pages but not enough to really know. We also find that we carry some top shelf exhaust brands that most people flock to which is understandable, but what about those brands that are not top shelf that most people do not know about. Anyways, what I am getting to here is, I want to create a page for our website to help customers with their choice of exhaust. Now there are factors that play into this, like do you have a Camaro that only has the exhaust, do you have headers, a cam, etc. I know there are some exhaust that sound great as a direct bolt on, which that's how aftermarket exhaust are designed, but when you add other things like headers, cam that can change how you feel about the exhaust. So if you have time please respond with the exhaust you have. I think this will help people that are looking to get an exhaust for their Camaro. Here are some Bullet Points to go off of
NOTE: I know I am putting this in the General Discussions because I would like to hear from V6, SS, ZL1 owners. Thanks Everyone! |

Jason here,
Since I started the thread I could at least give my opinion since I own a 2010 Camaro SS. So here goes. I am going to review 2 different exhaust since that is what I have personally had on my Camaro. First Exhaust
Current Exhaust

Mine
Well here goes;
Submodel (V6, SS, ZL1) - 2013 2SS RS Auto L99 Brand of Exhaust -Borla Atak Type (Axle or Cat Back) - Cat Back Pros -Great quality and fit, just wanted something a bit louder but not crazy. Keeping car mostly stock if fit my needs, does sound real good when you get on it, not real loud at idle Cons - Used clamps provided, but leaked a little, had full setup welded, problem solved Do you like it or not - Yeah overall all is great, a bit pricy though I thought. Submodel (V6, SS, ZL1) - SS
Brand of Exhaust - NPP + NOWEEDS Type (Axle or Cat Back) - Cat Back Pros - Easy to adjust sound from stealth, mild, to loud AF Cons - Cutting and wiring for NOWEEDS is more complex than a bolt on exhaust Do you like it or not - LOVE it combined with long tubes, high flow cats. I added a 3-way switch to the NPP so I can force it closed in the neighborhood. |

You didn't specify aftermarket.
V6 2LS. Pros, factory stock and stainless, fairly quiet, no resonance, well built and great for cruising. Most aftermarket is the opposite of the that. A tiny 217ci V6 will see very little to no benefit of a better exhaust anyhow and the tradeoffs will suck. Cons, carbon tracking on mufflers ticks me off. Love it.

A bit of a curve ball but I figured a data point is a data point

I have a basic muffler delete. I love the sound but a "custom muffler shop" (not) just welded in some decent, fitted straight pipes but I'd like a Borla axle back or ...whatever you might suggest!

Brand of Exhaust - Corsa Extreme Type (Axle or Cat Back) - Cat Back Pros - very loud at WOT and tame when at cruising speeds. Also there is zero drone. Cons - I don’t have any Do you like it or not - Yes, should’ve installed one way before I did. Just a little side note I am also cammed and supercharged with long tube headers so that probably make a little difference.

Brand of Exhaust - Borla type S Type (Axle or Cat Back) - Cat Back Pros - Great sound, less raspy vs ATAK Cons - Drone Do you like it or not - Hated the drone until I reached out to Solo and added J-pipes. Also note: Aggressive Cam, Kooks Headers and high flow cats. Personally I love the sound now. Met someone at a Camaro club with a Magnaflow exhaust. It had a bit deeper sound and the only one that I liked better than my own.
