New Here Considering a Purchase

Hey all , new to this forum for Gen. 5 . I am a member on Third Gen as I have two 84' Z28's , one an HO .
Anyway the reason I am posting is I am considering the purchase of a 2014 2SS with 69k on the clock . It has a clean Carfax and has been well maintained . I am looking to the knowledgeable and experienced here to give me some guidance on what I should look for and what are the inherent issues with this generation of Camaro . I appreciate any help or insights you folks may have .

Pull the trigger. Don't look back. Live today, tomorrow's not guaranteed.

No seriously the 2014 got car of the year honors I believe.

Only issues I can think of is the mod addiction that follows and funding needs to support it

Do it!! You won't regret it. The car has great mileage but that doesn't seem to matter because there are many Gen 5 owners without any major issues that are well into the 100k range. I would also suggest browsing this forum and you can get an idea what issues people had and what was done to fix it. Throw up some pics if you can.

I'm not a mechanic, and I don't really have anything revelational to share, but I'd check the following two things:

1. Does it have a catch can?
2. Did the previous owner crank the AC a lot (especially on max/high)? That would lead to an eventual blend door hack requirement.

As long as the price isn't too wild you'll be fine. These cars have tremendous reliability ratings and are a blast to drive. As sdynak eluded to, the mod bug bites hard and there's a boat load of items to mod with so remember to save up for mods because it's a lot of fun to mod these things.

1) The SS doesn't need a catch can if it's bone stock. The V8's don't have the problems that the V6's suffer from. If you mod it then a catch can would be a good investment. A good number of people use the Mighty Mouse catch can.

2) I crank both heat and a/c to the max all the time and haven't had a blend door issue yet. Of course now that I've said something..........lol.

Go for it bro!! My friend has a 2014 2SS/RS and love it!! It is an L99-auto car and has had zero problems with it so far, and he bought it brand new. He since has installed LT headers a catback exhaust and a tune and it is a whole nother animal. And as they have mentioned above, plant ya a money tree or 2 so you can do all the mods that are surely coming your way, and the second tree is for the wife!! lol. Good luck and have fun!

IMO, the 5th Gen Camaro is very solid. If the car is everything you want, happy with the condition, history reports, and how it has been maintained then go for it. Sure you’ll love the car and then Mod fever will kick in.
