Zl1 10speed, will it hold gear

Looking to grab a zl1 1le for track/autocross. Curious is anyone auto crossing one of these, will they hold gear in second if you wind it up? Is manual mode and paddles true manual.
Reason I ask, I ran a srt crossfire for a while and even in manual mode to get it to stay in gear for a short straight we had to get a tcu tune. This would cause problems if it up shifted right as we entered a corner
I think I would rather get a manual but for the money I’ve found a good priced A10, can anybody talk me out of it?

When in Manual mode it will hold any gear even at redline

If you enter performance shift mode on an auto by blipping the throttle to the floor, you shouldn't even need manual mode, the car will keep your revs high in the power band and only let go after driving "normally" for a while.

A10 in track mode is as aggressive as it gets, you probably can't do better with paddles unless you're an expert - it's an awesome trans

If you put the car in manual and 2nd gear, it will not upshift. You'll bounce off the limiter with the obvious results.

If you stop the car or slow it to idle (~5 mph?) while in 2nd, it will downshift to 1st and then unlock the converter to prevent a stall, and hold first thereafter.

So yes, it will do what you're looking for. But as others have said, full automatic is pretty damn good.

Thanks for all the responses, good to know. I know we’re talking 25 years newer technology but man it was a pain in the ass when you’d throttle down, let up and go to break but the car would lunge forward from the unwanted up shift.
Thanks again all

I find it easier to drive this car around a course in Manual Track because Auto Track will eventually throw-in a few unwanted and unexpected downshifts on you

I autocross my A10 ZL1 every season since 2017. You will want it in Auto Mode. You will hit the rev limiter otherwise. It would really be hard to avoid the fuel cut out without short-shifting. It shifts so fast that I find those little excursions into third really can help, without the penalty of upsetting the car on downshift or without loss of concentration. The car is much faster in auto. ps. I drive in manual most of the time on the street.
