6th gen Camaro addition - questions
I've been patient long enough and would like some input on a 6th gen for my collection from those of you with these rides. The ZL1 1LE is the obvious choice as I try to get a great performance example from each generation. Love the tech and capability and the ZLE is probably the baddest Camaro on the planet...ever but I don't see many in south Louisiana! Given that, I have a few questions: 1) If I unwrap the ZL1 1LE wrapped hood, is the hood body color i.e. Crush or Wild Cherry Tintcoat?? 2) Would you recommend a second hood painted body color \ carbon fiber and save original vs. just unwrapping the original? 3) Original wheels\ tires will be shelved and new wheels\tires installed. Would you recommend purchasing new ZLE wheels at dealer cost (done that before with a new Camaro order) or after market forged wheels and add new rubber? 4) Any experience with a Hennessey Exorcist conversion 6th gen ZL1 vs. ZL1 1LE? Many questions I know however I appreciate the input!!

lots of questions! but that's the only way to learn and determine what you want sometimes. I had a lot of questions as well when I was researching cars before I bought my ZLE. here are my opinions:
1) Hood is body color under the wrap 2) If you unwrap it and ever want to go back to the matte black, you can always have it wrapped again by a local shop that specializes in that type of thing. 3) Depends on if you like the look of stock wheels. I use my stock wheels for street driving, and I bought a set of 18" BCforged wheels for track use in 18" 4) No experience with Hennessey myself, but over the last 10 years on the Corvette Forums and now on the Camaro Forums i've read 90% negative reviews on them. |

Has anyone unwrapped the ZLE hood successfully? Any pics available?

Just some background information on Hennessy and why they have the negative reputation they have.
It all began when the company took in customer cars and promised them to build it to the specs agreed too. Soon after they began taking OEM parts off of customer cars and reusing them elsewhere or selling them to fund Hennessy's private builds. It all came crashing down when they didn't have the money to finish customer builds or put a customers car back together after being at their shop for months/years. Long story short, I wouldn't drop a drop a blow up doll off there and ever expect it back. As for the ZL1 1LE, it has a slightly harsher ride compared to the regular ZL1 since the regular ZL1 has magnetic ride control and the 1LE version has DSSV dampers. Besides the dampers and aero components, I don't think there is anything else that differentiates the two ZL1 variants apart. I would suggest driving a 1LE and a regular ZL1 to see if you can tolerate the stiff ride of the 1LE.

Thanks for the input. I have a ZL1 and love the car\mag ride but I think I can handle the ZLE ride as this is not a daily driver. I would like to test drive a ZLE but good luck with that around Baton Rouge where I live. My ZL1 has a Hennessey ZL1 package (serial #5) installed at 1K miles and my experience was completely different. I trailered my ZL1 to Hennessey in Sealy, TX with a scheduled build date, left the trailer and car with them for a week and picked up my car \ trailer a week later - ZL1 package installed and badass! I think HPE is in a much better business situation these days and I appreciate the engineering and the warranty. I was just inquiring about any Exorcist package experience from camaro6 members as I make my plans. Considering Anderson Composite full CF ZLE kit but am concerned about a quality install. Doing my diligence as I plan to keep the cars for a long time......

Sounds like you know what you really 'want' to do. No need to have any of us talk you out of it if you feel like your on the right track.
