Well if the dealership is like here, the same techs that work on the Chevies work on the Cadillacs! Of course that is if the dealership sells both Cadillac and Chevrolet.

Man I get videos of my car (inside/out) before I leave my house. Take my service advisor around the car and show them all the flaws and STILL get a slap in the face and a big ol’ f-you *facepalm*

I hope this is honestly the case! I need to get my brakes flushed/DOT 4 (air in system & VERY soft pedal). If I take it to Chevy I bet you I’ll get the car back with buckled fenders, scratches on fenders and one hell of a mediocre job

Same for me with the leather coming out there, BAD design, needs to be more leather stuffed under it, cut too short.

What kills me is that dealers all try to weasel their way out of not having to buy the parts they damage, and give customers a runaround, get everyone upset, everyone wastes each others time going back and forth, only to finally acquiesce and buy the parts and fix it right.

Why not just buy the parts as soon as you damage them and save all the time and aggravation for everyone? Do they think Camaro owners are just gonna gloss over stuff like this and forget about it?

I will always use the threat of the survey. That's one thing we all have at our disposal as our ally, because I do know GM does take those surveys seriously. If you give a scathing one, the dealers are informed by their regional/district management and people are held accountable.

Always use the survey as a bargaining tool in this situation. Hold out on filling out and submitting the surveys until about a week after you've had the car back from whatever your initial service was. If you find something they damage, tell them, if you simply fix the problem correctly, buying brand new genuine GM parts for the parts you damaged and properly, carefully, and correctly replace them and make the proper repairs, I will still give you a good review on my survey.

If you don't, I will not.

I bet you'll find them snap to attention rather quickly when you bring up the "S" word lol

Better yet, why doesn’t Chevy actually hire qualified/responsible techs instead of the suck ups who damage our cars to begin with? Don’t Corvette owners get special “vette certified techs”? If so, I’m surprised they hand our cars to dumbass teens who just dropped out of HS

Unfortunately neither Camaro nor Corvette owners get any “certified” techs. My Mom has a 2016 Stingray Z51 and has been bringing it to the dealer she bought it from every year for oil changes (she only has less than 3000 miles on it but has had the oil changed 4 times lol)..... I watched once as a kid in his early 20s did the oil change. It was fine but still gives ya pause to think.

There are more than a couple stories on this forum of SS owners getting home, checking their oil, and finding only 5 quarts in it.

Last year someone who’d just bought a brand new C8 was treated to another brand new one by his dealer, as the techs lifted it wrong when he brought it in for the first oil change and it fell off the lift. Totaled, destroyed, cracked the chassis right through.

Especially the C8s, you would think dealers have completely dedicated service for those cars now that they’re mid-engine and have a dual clutch transmission.

Same 20 year old kids change the oil on them and the Cruze 4 banger right next to it.

I remember reading about that C8. I can’t imagine how the owner felt after seeing the car like that. Really makes you wonder who you can trust anymore.

Moral of the story, Chevy service sucks. We’re all better off doing the work with an independent specialist shop or even doing the work yourself! If somebody here actually has a trustworthy unicorn Chevy dealer, congrats to you.

OP: I’m glad your dealer came around to fix the car for you. Be sure you do another walk around with your service advisor and record a video at the dealer just incase *knock on wood* the tech manages to mess something else up.

That sucks OP, glad they stepped up and are replacing the panels. Man, you guys have some horror stories. I've owned GM pretty much my entire life. I've never had issues like what you are describing taking vehicles into the dealer. Guess I'm lucky.

Years back when I took my dad's 2007 Sonata to the dealer down the street for his oil change they didn't tighten the oil filter! I leave the lot and as I drive home the car is leaking oil all over the place. Made the dealer send the porter to our house to fill it with oil to get me back to the dealer.

I suppose I'm just tired of supporting a company that generally builds crap and generally doesn't give a crap about its customers.

If you're thinking about getting a Mustang GT I'll tell you that Ford service at most dealers isn't any better than GM. My 2012 GT when I got my first oil change the leather and foam in the seats which is cheap was already showing wear after a couple thousand miles getting squashed in. Dealer said they could submit it but it would be denied until the wear gets worse.

Not familiar with Dodge.

TBH I don't think you will find much difference between Ford, Dodge or Chevy service. Most are all bean counters so if service is the reason you want to get a Challenger or Mustang it won't be much different.

Years ago my dad was at the shop getting his car worked on and saw a Vette get cracked when put on the lift. They didn't pop the T tops and my dad heard a loud sound and knew what it was instantly.

I guess the one good thing getting something like a Vette Serviced at a Chevy dealer is if they destroy it they pretty much will have to order you a new car.

I gotta wonder how p*ssed the general manager, service manager, and owner was when that took place and had to eat the cost. I could see an indie shop trying to make YOU file and insurance claim against your insurance to replace it.

I agree about Ford's build quality and service.

I'm actually contemplating purchasing a Lexus.
