I forgot to turn mine off during a 30 min session. Didn't realize it until i came into the pits and felt the cold air after slowing down. Ran my fastest lap during that session. I beleive the tune shuts off the a/c compressor when full throttle or above certain rpm. That is how the factory tune is on a c5 corvette for sure.

nice, thanks for the replies! I figured it would be ok to leave it on with this engine. We'll see how hot it is in a couple weeks. Even with a little air blowing through the seat coolers feels better.

I really wish i had vented seats, would be great on hot track days. That's one of the things i miss most about my Hellcat.

Having them is one thing, being able to use them is another lol. I say this because I choose to remove my front passenger seat typically when tracking, which it disables the vented function on the driver's seat ...Oh well. I've also forgotten to shut off the A/C leaving the grid and had no idea I did, until the cool-down / pit-in lap(s). I honestly have also found myself wondering about the overall impact on the session(s), having no knowledge the A/C also gets shut down as described. Interesting. I think I will still try to run without it, as long as I remember to!

I’m not a good enough driver to miss 5 HP on the track in a car like this. It was different when I drove a 70 HP VW Rabbit.... My biggest concern is wear and tear on the compressor and clutch at high RPM. Wonder if the WOT cutout has a delay to keep from engaging the clutch at max RPM between shifts...

Full On. I was under the impression that the A/C clutch disengages at WOT to maximize power / maximize the life of the compressor and/or system . The 2015 Z/28 was noted for this. 6th Gen?

Any windshield fogging?

I have not had any fogging. The windows are down and I just prefer to be as comfortable as I can be versus gaining ~3-5hp.
Plus I'm just not that good. If I were doing a time attack or time trial then I would consider turning it off. |

I almost always run with my A/C on max. I tried running with it off a couple of times but couldn't detect any difference in lap times. I'm sure there's some small difference but if you're just running for fun, you might as well be comfortable.
If the compressor wears out it's no big deal to replace it. The cost is less than consumables for a session or two.
