Valentine 1 GEN 2!

I see where there is a Valentine 1 GEN 2 available....$499 plus shipping from their website. Supposed to significantly reduce K band readings from lane changing and accident avoidance on other cars.

Looks like it can connect to your phone via bluetooth and an app. The website also shows a secondary display coming later this year.

I was thinking about getting the Uniden R7 but now I'm not so sure.

What you guys think? What will you be going with?

It's amazing how accurate the Valentine is, and once you have the arrows, it's hard relying on anything else.

I'm pretty sure the directional arrows and the bogey counter are very helpful. The new Gen2 design looks much better as well.

At the end of the day it's expensive, though, which is understandable, but I eventually chose a Uniden DFR9 that is very close to an R3 with somewhat less range and the RJ-45 jack properly (!!!) on the right side for $230.

Having pestered Uniden support to no avail about upgrades, I was pleasantly surprised towards the end of last year when they did release a new firmware that essentially solves the only problem I had with the detector, the amount of false K band positives from blind spot monitoring systems and object detectors in other cars. The new firmware cuts down on these dramatically, can drive my usual routes with zero false positives (I recall one single K band alert since I upgraded the unit, and I didn't see anything around in that case, but who knows, it may have been real).

I've had my OG Valentine 1 since 2008 and it's still working strong. I tried to do the "Upgrade" where you send in your old one and they install new hardware but mine is too old they said lol. However, I believe they offered me a discount if I sent the old one back. I'd have to dig through the emails

I had a V-1 that I bought sometime in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Never had it updated. In 2017(?) after they developed the "Junk K Buster" feature to stop falsing over blind spot monitoring, etc., I put my serial # in the upgrade page and followed the instructions to send mine in for the upgrade. It was expensive, like $200, but was worth it. I don't remember the exact cost.

How long ago was this, and did you try adjusting any of the filters? Still have it?

Have been a Valentine user for 15+ years. Got my Gen2 yesterday. Noticeably quieter than the gen1 on my first few runs around town.

I received my V1G2 and did a 600 mile trip with it. It is damn good. Very few false positives (store doors). Dollar General Store's doors were the only ones that made it go off. Very nice to have the arrows also. Easy to use.

My Valentine One is somewhere under my seat. Since I started using Waze, I get Police notifications well before my V1 picks up the Laser "which means, they already got you"

Use them together to make the system better.
