After your shudder flush question?
I’m at the dealer getting the flush and new fluid for the shudder, they told me if it still does it after 500 miles they do the torque converter,
My question is how many miles did the dealer tell you to drive to make sure it’s gone. I seen one post on here somebody said 200 miles just curious what your being told . Thanks

My 2 cents: Sounds like you have a very agreeable dealer. If you have any concerns at all, I would go for the new TC. If you think there is vibration, the dealer should be able to verify TC as the source using this procedure: https://gm-techlink.com/?p=11127 How many miles do you have on existing TC with shudder problems, and how long have you had shudder? Having seen the pictures of surface wear on the clutches I would not be happy having them in my car, even with all new fluid. The situation is such that the plates will never wear smooth again. It's a type of skip chatter wear. I can only see it getting worse over time. |

My dealer told me around 200 miles in a sort of vague non descriptive way. But I also had the TC replaced at the same time

I had the flush done in May 2019. In August 2020 the shudder came back. They replaced the TC and put in new fluid.

Told me it may continue to shudder mildly for a few hundred miles. I may have felt it very mildly once or twice within that time. Traded it in about 1K miles afterward.

1 1/2 months ago I had it twice for about 2 seconds Last week I had it 3 times within 2 minutes driving up a slight hill( longer than 2 seconds) and once Monday and Tuesday of this week. Hope the new fluid and flush works.

i did my own flush a few months and a thousand+ miles ago. no shudder behavior since. But I caught mine while it was still so mild that only I could feel it thru the pedal.
I'd think 500 miles is plenty on actual new fluid. If you have perm damage, it's not going to matter much if the fluid is new or not, you'll feel the shudder or other shift related abnormal behavior real quick. A lot of the delayed return issues from other people are from being flushed with pre-2019 fluid. I'm not sure if the guy above who had it done in may 2019 got the brand new blue label fluid or if they gave him black label ... but i know even into 2020 you'll still find black label being sold in stores rather than the new blue label so it wouldn't surprise me if dealers were a bit laggy in switching their stock to blue if they had tons of black. |

When I had it done on my 2018 Colorado, the Service Manager said it had to be driven "a minimum of 200 miles" before GM would consider a new TC. I drove mine about 225 miles after the flush and before the new TC. They replaced my TC and the new TC stayed healthy until I traded my Colorado for a Silverado a couple weeks ago.

I believe my dealer told me between 200-500 miles. I just went with it and 0 issues after 8k miles. (Never had the shudder prior)

No shudder immediately after the flush on my wife’s CTS, but it went in within days of first sign of it.

I had mine flushed twice. Last time with the new fluid and no issues. My pickup also has the A8 and was flushed with new fluid and driven hard for last 5000 miles with no issues. The pickup had the shudder for a good 6 months (3000 miles) before I got it flushed.
