Before creating this thread i had never realized how pretty much perfect the zl1 1le is. You are right. I guess in making this thread, i was trying to imagine how far could this platform really go for the buck. As in, i had the GT4, GT350R, Ferrarri 458 etc in mind. Never to think of the SS' bigger brother. Which turns out to be the big brother who beats the dog sh#t outta you growing up.

The gen 6 Camaro ZL1 (not 1LE) ran the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 29.6 Seconds. The SS 1LE beats the ZL1 in braking 60-0 (93 ft vs 96 ft) and in maximum skidpad Gs (1.12 Gs vs 1.07 Gs). I would bet that the SS 1LE could run the Nurburgring in 7 minutes 21 seconds if it added R compound tires and 100 naturally aspirated horsepower (to avoid a supercharger adding weight and heatsoak).

If Provoste can shave off 6 seconds with Pirelli scrubs on a 2 min lap without aero, then i think ZL1 would be able to shave off 8 seconds off of a 7+ min lap with better mechanical grip alone. That would still leave 5 seconds for aero on official basis (and 8 informally based on a non timed lap they did there).
Easy peasy |

Its going to need R comound tires too. 600 hp basically just puts us at the same power to weight ratio as the ZL1 which ran 7 min 29.6 sec. The SS 1 LE handles/brakes slightly better due to less weight but not enough to make 8.6 seconds. R compound tires would raise the handling/braking limits to close to the ZL1 1LE and might get us there.
