Noticed strange white paste lining inside car
Hey I was removing my tail lights to do some work on it and I noticed a weird white paste that looks like it’s lined throughout my car. Have any of you seen this before, know what it is or know if this is common? I’m a second owner on the vehicle bought through third party dealer. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, looks like a kind of crappy job but the sealer normal from the factory and on all of these cars.

Typical of "quality" seam sealer application in mass produced cars.

Thanks everyone. Just making sure it wasn't something out of the ordinary that should be concerning.

This is what I do. I work at the BMW plant in South Carolina and run the robots that apply seam sealer. The reason it looks messy is because it is in an area not visible to customers so appearance is not relevant. Only areas that are normally visible does it matter how the sealer looks and I'm sure different manufacturers have their own standard of what is acceptable. Sealer is applied by robots and not touched except for part fitment clearance, to ensure water tightness or for areas that have a visual standard for customer relevance.
