Camaro SS vs. Audi RS5
Looks like a pretty even matchup performance wise. The RS5 has a 4.2l V8 that makes 450hp @ 8000rpm and 317lb ft of tq @ 4000rm. 0-60 in 3.8 to 4.2 sec thanks to launch control and AWD. 1/4mi in 12.5 sec. $72k starting price.
Thoughts?

I have always loved the RS5, and Audi's routinely are praised for having the best interiors.
Price difference is big though, but AWD in those things is really nice.

Equal drivers, the Camaro will win by a car or two on the 1/4. RS5 has good power but unfortunately it's very heavy. I'm surprise it's even rated at mid 12's.. should be a high 12 sec car with it's power to weight ratio.

Car and Driver has it tested at 4.4 and 12.8@111. Seems more likely given the weight is closer to a fifth gen Camaro. I believe the Audi is worth the 70K for the features and quality of build, but the CA6 is faster in a straight line. I lined up with a normal S5 with exhaust at the track and I felt as though he wasn't trying.

That AWD really and high RPM dump really helps them off the line. Imagine if we did this in the Camaro? We would melt our tires. :-) 0-60 in 3.8 sec.

If money isn't an option, I would personally get the RS5 or even a c63 coupe.
But they're very different looking cars. Camaro is aggressive in a brutish way, not a bad thing necessarily, while the rs5 is aggressive in a sleeker way. |
