Yeah I'm not sure. Maybe there is some cooling upgrades GM hasn't told us yet?

Not sure I follow how more gears in a AT helps with cooling?

Not necessarily more gears, but a different transmission altogether. Though it seems M7 could make it.go in to limp mode as well under certain circumstances. Just wishful thinking as the tracking A8 Z owners are well pissed.

This. My prediction: 2018 Mustang Mach 1 - a GT350 inspired suspension but with peer provided by the new gen2 3.5EB. In Mach trim,it should be in the 500hp/500tq range. This would slot nicely into the "void" left by GT350, between GT and the upcoming GT500. I say Ford leaves the GT as the "softer" grand tourer that it is. Salesbprove that that strategy is a successful one. Leaving the GT as is, perhaps just a slight bump in power via a dual direct/port injection setup, this would allow GT to keep its MSRP noticeably lower than SS. Speaking of MSRP, Mach 1 should be priced similarly to 1LE as it would essentially be a "parts bin" car. This would allow Ford to offer a Mustang with performance at the level of 1LE, while allowing GT to retain its buyers because of the lower starting MSRP. Some ("enthusiasts") will look at a TTV6 being seated higher than a V8 as an issue because of a misplaced sentiment, the deeply engrained "muh vee-aight mother" mentality. But this plan of attack allows Ford to continue its push to infuse EcoBoost into all facets of their vehicle offerings. Besides, this method allows them to intro the 3.5EB to Mustang alongside whatever GT500 will offer, no doubt an FI V8. So, everyone wins. A V8 remains the top tier powerplant, Mustang is performance competative in the upper-mid trim level, and Ford gets more EcoBoost exposure.

Admittedly, the more gears you have, the more time an engine will stay at high rpms while accelerating... But I think the ZL1 will be fine while tracking, and the SS models don't throw off quite that much heat... |

I'm quite sure the SS will get it in 18. The ZL1 will be released before that and it already has it so why not?

That was my thought also on why I think it will be in the MY18. You know it fits, you know it works. Why not throw it in the rest of the V8 Camaros for 2018 in order to tout better performance and better gas mileage as soon as possible.
