Eliminate rasp

Recently installed 2 inch headers on my Camaro ss. I noticed if you aren’t flooring it 24/7, the car sounds really raspy and has no deep tone. Almost like a straight piped v6. My current setup is catless with a muffler delete and stock x pipe. What can be done to make the car deeper in tone or at least make it sound good? I have the stock npp muffler. Was considering on putting it back on to see if it would change the sound, what do you guys think?

The usual answer for a car with headers is to put the suitcase back in, go back stock muffler, etc, not sure if you have/had NPP.

With those big headers, even the stock muffler won't be enough to fully eliminate the rasp, add resonators to the midsection as well.

What resonators do you have?

...but I haven't gotten round to installing it yet Others here did and reported ample rasp reduction, and I'll report back once mine is on the car, too.

The stock suitcase muffler does take some of the edge off, but at WOT you'll still hear a lot of it.

Any combination of cats/mufflers/resonators will help. I personally have added Vibrant Performance (bottle style) resonators on my setup with catless ARH and Corsa NPP. They were a tight fit, but the local shop welded them on a custom xpipe they did to connect between the ARH and Axleback.

An aged original muffler.

Wait... so basically it's just a straight pipe? Well that's why it sounds like dog shit and is the equivalent to the fart cans imports have. *and sound just as bad*

Leave that shit to the Dodge boys and get a decent sounding muffler. OEM is actually pretty decent with headers/no cats. Borla is solid as well.

The best answer in my opinion is to put cats back on it.

Yup, unless you’re trying to achieve 1200 hp

I'll say it then.

2" LT headers, no cats, 3" X-pipe (stock is 2.75), stock axle-back

Added MBRP axle-back + Cam

No you won't chop like I do, but MBRP will lower the tone.

All the rasp is mostly in the Axle-back maybe a small part of it in the x-pipe.

With my setup its basically straight piped. And it is loud compared to stock suit case.

Sound at near WOT again remember I have a cam. Also remember soon as you dump the stock suit case you are likely to get some drone. My car does have drone, more of a buzzing sound at cruising speeds. Some people hate it, it doesn't bother me anymore, it did at first until I got used to it. That said I attribute the buzzing sound to the cam, and trans tune that I have. The axle-back makes it more obvious than it would with the stock suit case still on.

It’s like putting grease on an eraser just so it doesn’t squeak anymore.

The Magnaflow is a good piece for the right price and Borla offers this at a much higher price for those who overshot the mark with their exhaust sound.

But you may find the stock NPP can is needed as well. Everyone is different in their idea of the best sound.
