Since we've been talking fueling..

Found a neat hotrod.com article on the fueling of the LT1 motor. It was an interesting read.

Hang on. I'll have some added information on tuning your fuel system after I confirm some things on the dyno.

Your programed (desired) fuel pressure for the LPFP on a SS is 42 psi, not 72 psi like the article leads you to believe. 72 psi is the set point for a high flow condition. The LPFP on the ZL1 pump in my SS dead heads at 75 psi and the stock setting for a ZL1 pump is 51 psi.

Also, the HPFP is mechanically limited at around 2400 psi, not 2150 (at least on mine). 2150 psi is the electronically controlled max stock SS setting.

These settings are all changeable with HPtuners.

I am about to get into all of this stuff too. I will get my HP Tuners setup on the car this weekend. I would expect all of the goodies to arrive over the next few weeks and then it will take a few weeks for installation...gonna be fun. I can’t wait to get into the tuning aspects of this car with Ted.

Keep the good info flowing Ed. I am going to use the entire process to learn a ton more. I never really got into the tuning side of things with my old cars...watching Laynlo with HP Tuners at the track has got my intrigued.

True! I'll add that without making changes to the desired setting can cause other problems. I was running my aux pump activation too soon (3 pounds of boost) and it would set a check engine light for fuel pressure above desired perimeter.

I have to correct myself. I haven't really tested the upper limit of the HPFP. It could actually be higher than 2400 psi, but that's what I've settled on for now while I fiddle with other parameters.

I've seen my LT4 HPFP hitting 2900 under load as the article suggests.
