ZL1 cold start

When the car sits for a day it takes twice as long to start up. Is this common? I only have 3000 miles on it. It always starts of course.

Yup. Due to the very high rail pressures required for the direct injection fuel system to work properly, it takes a few seconds of cranking for the mechanical fuel pump to deliver.

I think that electric "whoosh" sound the car makes when you open the driver door cold is an electric booster pump pushing fuel on the low pressure side to prime the system, but that's just a guess.

Yes, exactly.

To the OP: that's normal.

Anyone else experience longer cranking times running E85? I have a '15 Tahoe that starts quick on regular pump gas but, put E85 in it and it cranks 1.5 times longer before the start.

I've never used it, but have heard many that do say it takes longer to start and gets much worse when it's cold out.

Interestingly enough, when I push start after its sat for a couple of days, I get this delay. But when remote starting the car, I don't.

But yeah, I thought it was my car, and was like SHIT, what did I do now
