from non Nav to Nav?

I was on the phone with a dealership yesterday, negotiating a 2016 2LT convertible. The vehicle was not configured for navigation, but the person I was speaking with at the dealership told me that you can have GM perform an upgrade to the non-nav system and navigation will be added. He stated this can be done without removing/modifying the hardware, as the mylink systems in the 6th gen have been standardized across several models.
Basically, what he told me is that $495 upgrade for nav can be done even after the car was built without it.

I understand I can use my iphone, etc. but on my 2013 SS, I had the navigation option and I liked the integration with the vehicle.

Can anyone confirm if this type of upgrade is software only, and as easy as he made it sound?

Thanks in advance.

No, you can't upgrade to Nav. I faced the same dilemma. The Sales Manager insisted that the upgrade was available "you can do it, as we've done a bunch of Silverados".....

A quick call to the Parts Manager confirmed that there is NOT an avail upgrade yet.....

No you can't do it direct from the dealer. You can get it here though: http://www.gen5diy.com/Chevrolet/Cam...grade8-screen/

Thanks guys. He insisted that they've done it for Silverados, and that the 6th gen could be upgraded as well.
I didn't realize Ofer offered an upgrade... I guess I'll keep looking for one that has it, as it's only a $495 option.

Why worry about having nav when you can use the nav in your phone?

Lots of options with Apple maps, Google maps, etc., but after I read what Ofer's upgrade adds that's missing; well, there's some features that I use all the time now that would be missing as well.
