Exhaust advise

Hello Group, 1st time posting,

i have 2011 2SS RS convertible ,

i looking for advise on exhaust, in cruising speed i do not want it to be loud, just when i get on it. i like the low rumble sound vs the cracking sound

Any advise on brands? also would a set of headers get me the sound im looking for?

Welcome! I'm new also!

I have a 2015 with the mufflers deleted. Just straight pipes in place of the mufflers in the back. Still have the cats and resonators, so it will pass emissions. Sounds great on start up, and when you get on it. Not as loud as you would think when driving normally. No drone. I have a manual trans. and there is a crackling and popping sound if you are at, say, 3000 rpms and take your foot off the gas, but it's a nice attention getter. lol Very cheap to do. I am actually thinking about putting headers on it to make it louder.

You could do the muffler delete for really cheap,(just a matter of cutting the mufflers off and attaching the new pipe),and if you want even more sound get the headers. From what you said, I think you might be real happy with just the muffler delete. Of course you have all kinds of aftermarket complete exhaust system options also.

My advice would be long tubes, hiflo cats on stock exhaust system. Add a cai and a solid tune...best bolt on modification you can do for an LS engine.
There are a lot of quality headers out there......but the price range is pretty broad. The results will be the same....just depends on how much you want to spend. Kooks & ARH are at the high end of the price curve. Stainless Works/Stainless Power are middle ground. TSP & OBX are at the lower end. (these are just a sample of header suppliers. there are a few more). All are of good quality and will last longer than your car.
I would also suggest scrolling down the main forum page and do some reading in the V8 exhaust/bolt on section. Tons of good information there.
Good luck.

Just be careful. Adding long tube headers to a muffler deleted car is going to make it extremely loud. I love a loud car and even that was too much for me. It was what I call 'Nascar' loud.

Is that even if you keep stock cats and resonators or with them removed also?

First thing you must take into consideration is if you have a L99 (automatic) or a LS3 (manual). It will make a difference in your decision.

You will not be dissatisfied with a catback from Solo Performance. I went with their Mach X system to go along with my catless long tubes and I couldn't be happier. Zero drone and sounds amazing! Loud when you want it to be and quiet when cruising. Highly recommend

Does that mean you don't have catalytic converters? No emissions testing there?

He means the car stick has cats and the solo pipes start right after the cats. Cat back - means after the cats till the exhaust tips

I second solo for a nice sound with low drone and interior noise

+1 for Solo Performance. Their catback system sounds great. Sounds great with LTs also. I just recently added LTs to mine. If you go here:

Post #80 is where you can hear the Solo Performance catback with Stainless Power LTs.

As I mentioned I just have the mufflers deleted. Can I just put headers on and leave everything else the same, resonators, cats, or will I need a tune, and more work to the exhaust system? Recommendations? Thanks.

If you add headers, youll have to change the cats as they will not fit with the stock set or delete the cats. A tune is also needed as headers can cause you to run lean and will throw codes for the rear cats being further away etc. You can leave the stock resonator there even with headers if memory serves.

Thanks for the info. Well, I still have to pass emissions here, so I'll have to run it by the guy at my shop to see if it's possible. They do inspections there also, so maybe that will help. Not sure.
