F.a.s.t. vs rod mod/ported OEM intake

They are about the same price so looking which one would perform better on a NA build.

How are they almost the same price? The F.A.S.T is almost a grand and the GPI modded one is $400 + shipping for a manifold. The GPI manifold has been shown to be a real winner for a street car. Other manifolds may make more on top but lose more down low. The GPI modded one makes decent gains across the board.

For a bolt on/mildly cammed car I would say GPI Ported Rod Mod would be the best bet.

You really can't beat that stock manifold for under 6500 rpm. Once you start pushing over 6500 rpm it becomes a bottleneck.

Sorry should of said I was gonna buy a new intake which is $288 and send it to them to get rod mod and ported with heat shield. Just in case I go forced induction one day I can slap the old one on since they advise not to use a ported one for forced.
This is still cheaper than the fast

If you Google Rick Crawford rod mod intake, go on some g8 forums and your questions will be answered. Theres even a dyno test between the RCR intake and a Fast 102.

Rod mod vs Fast 102

I purchased a new GM manifold, and sent it to GPI for Rodmod, porting, and heat shield. They also ported my throttle body. Torque is very good in mid range. On a Mustang dyno, Rwhp 445, Rwtq 437. If the car is used as a daily, the rodmod is the way to go. What percentage of your driving is above 5,000 rpm?

I am having a RCR style intake installed soon. I am also adding a mild cam. I am having before and after dynos offered by my tuner. He doesn't think it will pick up anything. I have seen bolt on ls3 without cams benefiting, so I hope it will.

Mine is ported and has the radius rods installed.

That’s the same one I went with and my mod range pulls better now. It was the right decision for a NA build.

Technically this isn't a Rick crawford, rather a T rod modded and ported ls3 mani. G8 guys had good success with them.

Did you dyno before and after with yours? Do you have a cam with it?

I selected a mild cam and I am hoing the intake will add some hp and torque to even things out.

My cam is 220/230 with 117 lsa.

Please make sure to post your before/after results here man. It will help a lot of the people that are on the fence on this. Plus, I want to hear about your tuner's response.
