I got a question and let me know what you think, so on my camaro v6 2018 i got mbrp axel back 2.5in with a 2.5in xpipe and 2.5in downpipes. I’m thinking of upgrading and going with the ss mbrp catback 3 in. Can i still keep my 2.5in downpipes and connect them to the 3in mbrp catback i know i would have to do some stuff to make it work and or get it welded but would it give me any problems in the long run from 2.5in to 3in out the back. Would it be worth upgrading?

Either way I think you would need a tune with that exhaust.

Yeah I’m tuned but i was gonna retune it if i do change the exhaust to 3in but I’m just wondering if it’ll be worth going with 3in mbrp catback and leaving my downpipes w/cats 2.5inch

Exhaust systems are typically tuned to the engine’s resonant frequencies to reduce rasp and drone. The V6 and V8 are very different engines with very different sounds. Installing a V8 exhaust on a V6 engine might not produce the tone you’re looking for.

Like mentioned above it may not sound as good on a V6 like that. I'd much rather go with something that fits right and easy, and that will sound like advertised. IMO it wouldn't be worth the risk overall

Yeah I understand v6 and v8s are way different tones, i know the rasp will always be there for the v6 but i wanna have that nice loud throaty tone for it

I hear ya, but I'm willing to bet it won't be any louder overall. In my past experience with other cars larger piping usually made for a slightly deeper and more mellow tone all else being equal. Will it be like that on the V6 Camaro with what you've wanting to do? Hard to say because every setup is different along with every vehicle

Yeah yeah, i want it to have a nice loud tone with more deeper throaty sound if it’s possible with 2.5in downpipes w/ HF cats going into 3inch catback. So I’m just wondering how it would sound and if it would be worth it.
