Buying A Camaro from Hertz?
I've given myself a 35k budget for a Camaro. The Hertz by my house has several 2SS's available for 32k-33k with under 15k miles. Is this something I should consider or run from?

There are plenty of people out there that beat on rental sports cars, but more than any other used car, you'll never know. I personally would shy away, but if you go that route, do your research on the car and get it looked at by a reputable local shop.

I rented a Camaro SS in 2016-2017, that's what lead to me buying my car actually. However...I did find out that a stock A8 1SS will do about 174 MPH, amongst many other things. Having said that, people don't rent these cars for any other reason than to beat the shit out of the them.

Surely a good bit of those miles were hard miles but I’d think it would still be fine. I mean you don’t even lose your warranty for track use so Chevy obviously intended in them taking more abuse than the average car. See if you can take whichever one you like to a reputable mechanic & have it checked out. FWIW I’m sure there’s plenty that weren’t rentals that got drove hard too lol

However, do you really want absolutely no options? Only you know your budget, but we're talking - no dual mode exhaust (and thus 2 exhaust pipes, not 4) - no magnetic ride control - no rear Brembo brakes - no HUD - no spoiler - no blind spot monitoring, no rear cross traffic alert, no object detection - cloth seats with no cooling or heating - small touch screen - "base level" audio system - no sunroof - no navigation etc. The LT1 is the trim designed for those who only want the V8 and nothing else. You can option in many of the above, but then the price will obviously start to climb. Finally, I'd stay away from rental V8's, many others before me have already mentioned why.

That was my budget too (35k) and exactly what I spent on my new 2017 1SS with only a few options (out the door including 7% sales tax, title, "dealer processing fee",etc.). I waited for a bunch of GM incentives to stack up in March of 2017 and negotiated from there. I'd recommend always negotiating the out the door price to avoid any hidden fees that could add up.
I personally would not buy a car from a rental company just due to the sheer # of people that would have driven it and for fear it may have been abused.

why not consider a used CPO 2SS,even if it has to be a year older than the hertz car? im assuming the hertz comes with no warranty.
