2016 RS OEM Tire Wet Performance

I have a 2016 convertible LT1 RS with the all season 20 inch tires. I have about 30K on them but they still seem to have a fair amount of tread. Last year I was driving in the rain on the highway and it felt like I was hydroplaning all the time. I was wondering what others felt about the OEM tires wet performance. There is a great deal locally for these tires ($176 per) for replacements and I am thinking of purchasing them thinking that my bad experience was due to wear. Are the RS OEM 20 inch tires decent in the rain?

How much tread is left exactly? I'd measure them.

Yeah, the OE tires suck in the rain. I had the same issue with mine when they were brand new. If there was even just a dampness on the road, the rears would spin and my butt would slide to the right. It seems to have worked itself out since then, but I'd bet you're getting low on tread and having the same kind of issue.

These tires don't do the car any favours

Looks like the tread probably got down to the point where it hardly works in the rain. The OEM tire, like others have said, are not the greatest overall in any other weather except sunny. Once it's down in tread it's like riding on slicks.

My stock 20" OEM tires do just fine in the rain in my opinion. They may not be the best, but they get the job done without any real issues.

We tend to get gullywashers when it rains here in Tejas, and since the day I've bought it I've had to put my 'vert in Snow/Ice mode if I don't want to fishtail 2 feet right for every 1 foot forward. Looking for better tires this year. Love this car and cannot wait to drive it every day EXCEPT when it rains...
