SmoothBoost…who’s running one?

http://www.smoothboost.com/

Anyone running this? I’m leaning towards giving it a try. Being able to dial the boost down for the street and then right back to race mode with the turn of a dial sounds good to me. I’m too lazy to swap pulleys all the time so I end up with just a bit too much power on the street..

Oh no. Mods to remove power :s

I want to play with an electric blower sometime. I think PC makes one.

It’s a lot more than that. It lets you dump the boost if you have an alarm. It lets you avoid large cam idle issues due to lack of vacuum. Dialing down power for street use with no pulley change is the cherry on top.

Probably no such thing as too much HP… but there is on street tires! That’s for sure.

I’m equally pumped about getting about all the other cool stuff it can do though… although I’ll probably need something like a Holley ECU to really take full advantage of it.

Why not just limit torque per gear in the trans tune? Then your throttle won't open all the way and that will limit boost.

I could, and just reflash a different tune when I go to the track… but I’m hoping this will help my cold idle too as Whipple does not offer a low vacuum bypass for the 2.9 unfortunately.

My brother is buying one for the 2650 in his Z06 too and will be tying it into his Holley Dominator ECU so it’ll dump the boost if he ever runs lean, so that’s a cool feature too.

The boost dump for lean AFR is definitely a nice feature.

I am using it. It is quite nice for driveability and you can control the power with dial like pic.

Update: I got my Smoothboost installed but have hit a snag. It needs 4.0 VDC at WOT to fully close the bypass. I’m teed into the pedal sensor and was only getting 2.0 VDC at WOT, so I’m only getting a third of my full boost. Thinking my shop spliced into the wrong pedal wire, I grabbed a JMS voltage booster pedal harness since that had worked for me when I ran the voltage booster. Same exact situation, still only getting 2.0 VDC… anyone got any ideas???

You wired to the wrong one. I had the same issue, but it was my fault.

The JMS adapter wired into the 2V signal on mine. I thought it was 0-5v, but checking it I only got around 2 at wot. Maybe there’s another wire with a different signal? Wouldn’t think so but not sure.

(I don’t have smoothboost, I just checked the voltage at the JMS when I set it up)
