Our Camaro has been retired

It’s a sad day in some respects, but it’ll end up being for the better. My wife traded her Camaro for a dark blue 2021 CX-5 Touring. We needed a family car and she really couldn’t stand such a low sitting car any longer. 30k was the budget cap, and it wound up being between a Nissan Rogue and the CX-5. Reliability aside, she chose the CX-5’s sportiness over the Rogue’s bigger size and tech filled cabin. I think the Camaro helped give her a bit of a “driving connoisseur” taste in cars. I’ll still poke around the forum from time to time but will probably be much less active.

Side note- got to sit in a C8 (regular removable roof) at a dealer. It wasn’t comfortable. I’m a hair under 6’-2” with a 30” inseam, and my head stuck above the windshield a solid 2”. It sure felt nice blipping the throttle tho.

Good choice. If I had a wife and kids or a GF and kids then I would do the same thing in a flash. You'll get much more enjoyment from a road trip in a family friendly vehicle than you'll ever get from a Camaro. The best times of my life were the road trips with my family in our ugly minivans, lol!!

My 2016 CX-5 is my daily driver, just hit 100k miles. Still love driving it, especially on windy roads.

My wife did the same in January. 2014 2LT convertible. Knee issues and getting in and out of the Camaro was getting less and less fun for her.

Said she wanted a truck and was stuck on Tacomas. I test drove an Off-Road and seemed to drive nice. Not a lot of get-up-and-go, but drove like a car. I hate HATE driving my Sierra as a comparison. I like driving the Tacoma. Anyway... after weeks of nudging her to take one for a spin I just pulled the trigger to get it done and over with. Found one on Vroom; 2020 TRD Sport 2WD, 1k miles on it. Got it 2 weeks after inquiring about it. She loved it for all of 4 weeks. Wants the Camaro back. lol.

/sigh

I find it better to have both a practical car and a fun car if at all possible.

Most likely we’ll be getting a NA or NB Miata at some point. Those are the only two that I can fit in. Every update reduces leg room. I couldn’t get my legs under the steering wheel of the current Miata.

Agreed... I have a daily driver and a Camaro... well and a motorcycle too. I personally would never own a Camaro as a daily driver. I'd need a real back seat and far more storage space.

OP... you have to do what works for you. Everyone's situation is different. Bummer you had to sell the Camaro though. Maybe another one down the road. Never know.
